i went out to go on a dive today, it wasent too difficult to break down to change the battery. however the retractor stopped retracting. upon further investigation i found the internal spring was broken in 3 places...... whole day of diving ruined as i had no other options for mounting this to my BC... by the way the unit had only been underwater 4 times. what a chinsy piece of you know what.....

Ignore the review titled: "Its not worth it!" The compass bracket is easily installed with three little retaining pins and the retractor is no more difficult than changing a watch band. Changing the battery is no big deal if you just take the time to familiarize yourself with the process. The whole thing can be disassembled and reassembled in under five minutes! This is a great product but it must be used with Aeris/Oceanic Hose Mount Compass and the Aeris/Oceanic Computer Retractor. I really like having my computer and compass all together, leashed to my vest, where I can quickly look at it then let it spring back out of the way. Word to the wise, do not lose any of the little retaining pins that come with the compass bracket! Nobody has them and the manufacturer will not sell them separately! They expect you to buy the whole thing again; luckily I found a pin that would suffice in a hardware store to replace the one I lost. Other than that, the item is great!

I would not recommend this product. It is difficult to assembly and once it's assembled, it's practically impossible to change the battery when you need to on the back of the computer. You're better off custom making an attachment for your BC.
