Questions about this item:
Raymond E How thick is this dive computer? Can you wear it in watch mode?
Ben T Its about 15 ml and its bulky but wearable.
Frank L It is a beefy watch/computer. You can wear it as a watch too.
Shopper The video suggests the navigation data is downloadable. Is this the case?
Monica s Navigation info is not downloaded.
Shopper Hi, I have just purchased an OC1 limited edition.
I have enabled the transmitter and entered the transmitter seriel number but te watch cannot receive any signal from the transmitter, I have checked the battery in this an it is fine.
Have I forgotten to activate it somehow?
Can anyone offer any advice or suggestions?
David R Please email customer service or call our tech to try to see what might be wrong
Carl S Can a user change the battery?
NATHAN M I don't believe so, no. If the battery was in need of replacement, I'm guessing it would have to be serviced by an Oceanic-authorized dealer or Oceanic itself.
ERNESTO P No. It needs to be hydro tested
MICHAEL W The battery is user changeable, however oceanic highly recommends having an authorized dealer perform the battery replacement.
STEVEN R Yes. There is a battery kit (battery, o-ring and silicon) available from Oceanic that is widely available on the internet or your LDS.
PHILIP T Well, yes and no. You can pick up a battery online, open up the watch, and replace it, but Oceanic does not sell the o-ring for it. They changed their mind and you must send the watch in for replacement of the battery at a charge of around $85.00 You can take a chance and not replace the o-ring but for the money the watch costs (and no warranty if you replace the battery) it is a risk I would not take.
KEVIN C I haven't had to change my battery yet, but I wouldn't reccommend changing it on your own. I take all my high end watches to be cleaned and have the batteries changed out by a certified dealer, watch shop, etc.
Adson M Can we change Mix Underwater? i.e. botton gas to deco gas.
JONATHAN L Yes. You can change mixes. I've never used this feature but I know it's available.
STEVEN R Yes. The OC1 allows you to easily change between three air/nitrox mixtures underwater. I've done it numerous times with no problems. Like any other activity, it is a good idea to practice underwater a few times while using a single mix to avoid task loading when you really need to switch tanks from bottom to deco gas.
Nick G Are you able to check your gas supply in PSI while still on the surface?
DAVID M I purchased the computer as a backup for my console computer (also oceanic). It is an outstanding computer. I used it for diving in the Galapagos. You can check your pressure on the surface (psi or metric). I've got about 17 dives on it so far and no problems--love it.
CHARLES S Yes
Nick G Thanks Charles.
Hey while I have you on the line, could you tell me if your computer would lose signal from the transmitter at all while on a dive?
Thanks, Nick
Bill P Yes, you can.
Nick G Thank you BIll.
Hey while I have you on the line, could you tell me if this computer ever loses signal from the transmitter at all while on a dive?
Thanks, Nick
WILLIAM D Yes, as long as the transmitter is functioning and the OC1 receiver is in range.
Nick G Thank you William.
Please tell me if this computer ever loses signal from the transmitter at all while on a dive?
Thanks, Nick
WILLIAM D Never, on over 20 dives, have I lost signal from my personal tank transmitter as long as the OC1 was on my wrist. I have lost signal when trying to monitor my buddy when he swims out of range. The OC1 receiver does reaquire the signal when the transmitter proximity is back in range.
Nick G That is good to know. Thanks again, William.
Did you seriously consider other hoseless computers before buying this one?
Which one was a close second? And why did you choose the OC1 instead?
Nick.
WILLIAM D I considered the Atom1 but it didn't have all the features. The compass/navigation feature eliminates another instrument and it's always available for use on the surface as well. The only other instrument I use is a redundant hose UPG.
The OC1 was my choice because of its small size and has all the functions I need. I don't need an extra watch when traveling and it looks cool on my wrist.
Shopper What's the difference between the Oceanic OC1 and the Oceanic Atom 3.0?
LeisurePro S They are very similar in function, but the OC1 has a titanium case, a digital compass and dot-matrix menu based navigation.
