Went diving with my adult children (beginner OW divers)in 54 degree water. They complained the regular hoods were too confining. Bare headed was uncomfortably cold particularly at 60 feet. The Beanie was a good compromise and allowed them to focus on their diving instead of the cold.

Great beanie for warm to moderate water temps. Chin strap is adjustable and fits well. Beanie is good fit so air & water does not collect in it. I purchased 2 and plan to purchase a couple more just to have. This beanie works for me.

I have a 22" head and am a 63", 112# woman. I used the previous reviews to choose the Medium size, without the reviews would have chosen Small. I wanted a cap to go with my full wetsuit for warm water snorkeling (I run cold). This was the right size, though slightly generous, for me. There would still be room if I had thick hair or hair to tuck in. The cap & strap are comfortable and it did the job I wanted. Thankful for the helpful reviews left by others.

I get cold easily so I have a collection of beanies and hoods.

I wouldn't use this for cold water — for that I'd use a vest (with 'skin in') with an integrated hood.

Someone inferred that the pictures weren't the same as the product — actually, the problem is that the first picture is so bad that you can't see the details. If you click on the 2nd thumbnail, you'll see that the strap loops through a plastic glide buckle and then of course, the strap attaches to itself via Velcro.

You don't want to buy an over-sized beanie because that Velcro section of the strap might end up under your neck - and that would be uncomfortable.

For male sizing, imagine a T-shirt that fits traditionally - where the seam of the shoulder lines up with the 'point of the shoulder' - use that size T-shirt to choose a size for the beanie.

Beanies and hoods have to have air holes — otherwise, air will fill the top of the beanie and, well, it'll be a problem. My Neo beanie had no air holes. So, I straightened a large paper clip, heated it over a flame until it was red hot and then 'very carefully' made two parallel rows of tiny air holes along the outer edges of the 'top center panel' of the beanie. The holes start about a 3/4 inch from the front edge of the center panel and continue just past the crown of the head. If you decide to do this, don't wiggle the paper clip when you pierce the neoprene - you only need a hole about 1/32 inch diameter. Numerous tiny holes - spaced out - are better than one big hole.
