R R Is this waterproof? Will I be able to snorkel with it and my belongings not get wet, such as phone, camera, money, etc..?
JENNIFER B Unfortunately, it is not waterproof. It's a great back to have on a boat or at the beach, but I wouldn't take it in the water unless everything you want to stay dry is in drybags inside. It folds over and buckles at the sides, but there is not a mechanism to secure the top (like a zipper, ziplock, velcro). It is also a bit bigger than I originally imagined - it works well for us when diving becuase we can easily put two beach towels, snacks, sunscreen, masks, snorkels, extra clothes, etc in it. We typically are able to leave it on the boat when we are diving or snorkeling.
ANTHONY D It works by folding the opening over itself several times and then snapping the opening shut. It is prob fine vs splashes of water on a boat, or if it goes overboard, but I'm not sure I would recommend it for prolonged exposure to the water, like towing it along while snorkeling.
I think you could put your phone, wallet etc inside a ziplock freezer bag and put that inside this bag to be on the safe side. If your towel comes out dry, then you know your gadgets are safe.
KARLA C Yes - this bag is waterproof (assuming you roll down the top and secure it). My husband and I used this bag on a recent scuba trip as our "dry bag." We put our cameras, wallets, keys, towels in this, rolled the top down and threw it on board a very wet dive boat. The bag performed flawlessly. Kept everything nice and dry. The bag is a bit deep and reasonably large but you can easily roll the top down and secure it if you're not carrying a lot of stuff. It was perfect for the two of us carrying two towels, dry tees, etc.
ROBIN J Yes it will work great! We used the large one with straps in British Virgin Islands. Swam from the boat several times and all stayed dry.It worked great for getting groceries back to the boat.If using a non waterproof camera in the bag....use an extra small bag for the cam just to be sure.We never had a problem but with an expensive cam, just be safe.Leisure pro has several small bags that are cheap and work great. It is good to have a couple dry bags of different sizes on a trip. The small ones are great for passports and phones.
