Shopper Hi I am looking at purchasing the MaxAir 35 to fill my tanks and was wondering if I need anything else with it, or is it plug and play? Thanks Pete

DANIEL H As long as your power outlet is hooked to a 30 Amp fuze you should be good to go.

MICHAEL V You should get some extra filters[lf-1001]. You need to replace them at about 10-11 hours. If your tanks are about 1300-1500 it will take about 15-18 minutes to put them at 3000 psi. If possible try to do your filling in the morning when its cooler. It's a great compressor and you will enjoy not making that drive to a scuba shop.

Shopper How well did it work? Were you happy with it?

MICHAEL V I've been very happy with it. Run time on a tank of fuel is about 1 1/2 hr. I would like to see the filters last a little longer. They last about 11 hrs of run time. A 80 tank at about 1300 psi takes about 20 minutes to fill to 3100. The best thing I enjoy is not running to the dive shop for refills.

DANIEL H Once I figured out it would not run on a 20amp fuse and used a 30amp it worked great. If your going to use a generator make sure it is a strong enough one.

Shopper Can I fill a steel 100 cf 3442 working pressure tank? And how long would it take? Regards, Andrew

NICHOLAS H Andrew, It took about 30-40 minutes to fill each of my 12L, 3442psi steel tanks when I was filling them on a regular basis. Cheers, Nick

Chris B Can I start the electric version using house power from a 5KW Northern Lights (Lugger) genset? It should be fine to run once started, but it's the starting amps I'm worried about. I've got 30A service onboard but max 20A circuits. I could install a 30A circuit but have never pushed it past 20A - this would be the first time that need has arisen in over 10 years. So I guess the quantitative question is, "What's the starting draw in amps?", and the qualitative question is, "Are most people just getting the gas version, and if the electric version, with what are they starting it offshore?" Thanks in advance.

DANIEL H The only thing I can tell you is mine would not run on a 20 amp circuit. As soon as I used a 30 amp fuse it worked fine. I would put in the 30 amp line.

Shopper I know this is not suitable for compressing nitrox but is the air that it pumps oxygen safe? If iI us it to fill my o2 safe tanks will I have to clean them again before filling with nitrox?

BRANDON B I can only say that it makes pure clean compressed air providing all proper maintenance is done. It is no different from any other compressor

DANIEL H I don't know about having to clean your tanks before using nitrox again but the compressor comes with special filters for breathable compressed air. As long as you keep them changed as recommended I don't think you will have problems. I had problems getting it to work until I found out you need a 30 amp fuse in your fuse box.

Shopper Do you have the single phase 230V model?

dillon g can you travel with this in a pelican case checked on an airline to jamaica? once used would there be an issue with taking it back home; considering there will be gas fumes in it? I would get the electric version but there will never be reliable sources around my dive site.

David R We can special order the item but would need the exact model and inof to get a price . The shipping also has to be calculated once an order is placed depending on your zip code as they are shipped by truck only and depends if it is a residential or commercial address.

DANIEL H Mine is set for 120V. I needed to put a 30 amp fuse in the fuse box before it would work correctly.

NICHOLAS H I bought the Honda gas engine model and it worked well. I was able to take it on the boat and set it up on remote beaches.

Shopper How often (after how many hours,fills, etc...) should the disposable filter be replaced and what does the replacement filter cartridge cost?

Given our remote location in Northern Haiti, this little compressor is great to keep our tanks full without having to drive 6 hours to the nearest dive shop. We recommend the Max Air for experienced divers going to far away places.
