I have a diving certificate, but am not diving at this point. - - However....I do have a very important use for this product though. - - Am using these earplugs daily when showering to avoid recurrence of Swimmers Ear. Unexpectedly, when using my humidifier, after placing it right next to the bed to improve breathing at night while sleeping, I accidentally developed Swimmers Ear when too much of the watery mist ended up in my right ear. I developed and excruciatingly-painful ear infection. After requiring a doctors visit and prescription for antibiotics to correct this, tho better now, I am also now very susceptible to recurrence of the infection, which, again is also known as Swimmers Ear. To be able to shower and wash my hair without making the problem worse again, I now use the earplugs daily when showering or in any situation where there's a lot of humidity / water in the air (like when washing dishes with a lot of hot water I can feel the difference immediately.. If I don't use the earplugs, I feel like my infection is about to come back because somehow the humidity gets in that ear and I feel like the infection will return; with the earplugs, I dont have to worry). - - Practice inserting them one at a time, according to directions. Do not insert them too far, because it's not necessary. Study the diagram on the back of the packaging, gently twisting them in place. It works best to gently twist the one for the left ear clockwise, and the one for the right ear counter-clockwise (in both cases, rotate hand up and back towards the back of the head) because of the shape of the ear lobe. You know they're inserted properly when you can't hear the tv or other people talking, tho you will hear the water running in the shower because that's very loud and probably a different sound frequency. Remove them by gently twisting in the same direction and pulling them out very carefully a little at a time, so as not to damage the ear nor ear drum in the process.. usually in three gentle steps for each ear works best for me. - - Each package comes with 2 pair. Store them in their original plastic container when not in use, to avoid contamination by germs, which could cause ear infections in the future. Clean between each use, and do not rush the process.. you want to be thorough and hygienic. Designate a separate plastic container with a secure lid to wash them. Always make sure your hands are clean when touching / handling the earplugs. Use hot water and a little squirt or dab of shampoo.. secure the lid and shake thoroughly to mix the water & shampoo, washing the earplugs at the same time. When doing this over a sink, make sure you have a strainer in the drain to avoid losing them down the drain when rinsing.. Carefully pour the soapy water out by holding the lid over the opening of your container, just enough to allow the water to pour out, but not the earplugs. Rinse with hot water, shaking thoroughly. Do this a couple times to be sure the shampoo and any residue on the earplugs is completely gone (water is clear, soapy bubbles gone). Dry with a clean paper towel by wrapping the earplugs in it and squeezing the earplugs gently and thoroughly. Inspect earplugs to make sure any and all moisture is gone. Then slip them back into their original protective plastic case and they're ready to use next time. Once you get used to the process, it only takes a couple minutes. - - Original reviews that I found and read on the Internet about earplugs steered me to these and people who have reviewed these before me are correct!!! These are the best, most comfortable, most effective earplugs!! No need to try any others. These work great!! and are very reasonably-priced, which is also important in today's economy. I'm very, very pleased with them and so grateful that they did not cost an arm & a leg, because right now I'm not working and don't have health insurance, so especially now I need inexpensive preventative measures to avoid a recurrence of my ear infection and also to avoid expensive doctors bills and medication. Use these for snorkling and lap swimming. Find them very effective in protecting my ears which developed trouble draining water. An easy, cost effective fix!
