Questions about this item:
Leland R how many bands are on this gun? thanks!
DAVE P The picture is not good (even enlarged). There are 2 bands to propell the spear. Also, the full length of the spear shaft aligns outside and along the top of the tubular gun housing and locks into the top of the trigger housing. Not illustrated in the picture. Don't get sand in the trigger housing or hit a rock with the spear head. Great gun! I like mine.
RICK B 2. Range is 15 to 20 feet.
ZACH B 2 one-half inch bands
EZDENEK L Hey Leland,
The gun has two bands and it works perfect on shallow waters, I've had for three years and I use it often when I go spearfishign in the shallows.
Hope this answer you question, thanks for the opportunity.
MILAS R 2 bands. You'll have plenty of power for a starter gun.
Leland R does this gun come with one or two slings? in the picture it only looks like their is one. i am very interested in buying this gun. thanks!
JAMES M Look at thejbl woody. Better gun only 100 bucks more
JAMES M It has two. I bought this gun and took many fish with it, not a bad first gun. A year later bought a wood gun and will never go back. If you love fishing and live close to water I would get a wood gun. Have bought two guns and now looking for a third... It is a great sport and even more fun when you have better equipment.
TERRY A It comes with 2. The range is quite good for the length that the gun is. It still works fine since I bought it, and I use it every summer.
THEODORE D This gun has 2 slings. It does not have a shaft guide like the JBL Sawed Off Magnum. While a shaft guide is nice, it is not essential - I have owned double sling spearguns such as Arbelette & Champion without shaft guides & they worked fine.
Devin O What is the benefit to attaching a reel? is it necessary?
BARRY A usually only snorkelers or free-divers use a reel so that you can get back to the surface if you hit a big fish that wants to take you for a ride.
TERRY A Hi,
Not realy. a strong cord is attached to the gun & follows the spear for easy retreival by simply pulling up the line. It would likely add more drag when you are swimming and more weight.
Jason M Does the shaft of this gun collapse at all...or, do I need a travel bag that is 50 in long to store this thing? Thanks.
FRANK P No it doesn't. You're going to have to buy a bag for it
David R The shaft does not collapse
MILAS R Sorry, it doesn't collapse. You could, however, take the trigger and butt plate off without too much trouble if you are traveling, but this will only take off about 6 inches.
DENNIS C The shaft does not collapse. The back end pops off for easy cleaning and may give you and extra inch or two shorter shaft at max. But you will need a large travel case to carry the gun in. I bought this gun 4+ years ago and still use it and all original parts. Simple and easy to maintain. Good luck.
ALEX M hello Jason,
i took the entire speargun apart, i mean "all" including the tip of the spear, handle, butt, etc. the longest part you end up with is the spear itself. i fitted the spear diagonally in the largest allowed continental check in, non over-sized travel bag. a common, rectangular, handle and wheels travel bag. the hole thing is now out of the country.
ian m what type of muzzle does this have?
DAVE P The muzzle is hard plastic with a barrel / guide. The spear shaft runs along the top of the main tubular housing into the grip and trigger housing. The Illustration is not so clear. Even while zoomed. Pros: It's a great speargun! It packs a good punch! Money well spent! Cons: Kind of tough to cock both rubber tubes underwater. Almost has to be done blindly as you cannot look down far enough with mask and reg in place. Don't get any sand in grip and trigger housing. Beware of recoil; I shot once and the butt end knocked the reg out of my mouth. Happy fishing!
Capt. Dave
TERRI T it looks to be a hard plastic (black). I can tell you its been in the salt water & stores in the garage and it still looks good, no rust or cracks. Bought for my son so its been beaten up by the jetties.
Kristy B Would this gun be good for a first timer?
CHARLES T Its the perfect gun for first timer. It is very light accurate and easy to load. I own a charter dive boat, and have friends that have bought bigger guns to start out, and they all ended up buying this gun or one similar after seeing the ease of use. This gun is however primarily good for reef hunting, if your looking to do some open water or blue water hunting you may require something a bit bigger for the range. Best of luck
Shopper Does the shockline connect the gun to the spear or the diver to the gun?
PATRICK F The shockline connects the spear to the gun
MIKE B It's connected to the gun.
TERRY A HI,
It connects the spear to the gun. It is a little longer than the effective range of the gun. It is easy to use and a great feature as when you spear a fish longer than bait he may swim away with your spear. instead you can swim to the surface with a fish and spear on the end of your line.
Shopper Does the gun come with a butt end for loading as it shows in the picture?
JOEL P Yes. It's been a very good gun for the money.
JANE O I believe so, bought the gun in 06 and have it in storage at the moment. Great gun for the money though, killed quite a few fish with this bad boy.
FAYCAL B what is in the picture is what you get.
CAMERON C Yes, the butt is included
Shopper Does it come with any kind of rig or reel?
LeisurePro S A reel is not included, but you can fit any reel that will fit a 1" barrel to this gun. The Mares reel found here should fit.
Shopper Do you have a blue one?
LeisurePro S Unfortunately, we currently only have this available in silver.
Shopper Does this gun come with a tip?
LeisurePro S Yes, this comes with a point.
Shopper What is length of this model?
LeisurePro S Overall length is 50".
Shopper Is this gun upgradeable for a third sling? Can a third sling equipped without modification?
LeisurePro S Not really...You would have to do some kind of modification to assure that a third sling wouldn't snap/bend your attachment points or to add a place for a third sling to attach.
Shopper What's included with this spear gun? Is it ready to use or do I have to buy other things (shafts, bands, etc..)???
LeisurePro S Gun, bands, shaft, shockline included. Gun ready to use.
Shopper hey does this gun come with a shockline?
