I took mine to Bonaire and loved it. It was so easy to transport there and back. The wife and I would use it to get out to the site from land and then I could just strap it to my D-ring. It was a blast to use and never got in my way.I would recommentd it to anyone that is thinking of gong on vacation or just doing local dives off of boats. My best friend bought one after the trip and he really likes his also.

Great little DPV.

Fits in my suitcase with other dive gear - Took these on a trip recently to try out.

Pulls along well. Better at depth than at the surface, but can still be fun for snorkeling as well.

The only negative I found was the running noise. Hopefully they will work on making future versions more silent.

The battery lasted through 2 dives on the couple of occasions that we did 2 in a morning (I would estimate run time of 1.25 hours used - Power was still there to continue).

As for the 3-speed on the 5000: I found the slowest speed to be comparable to normal self-propulsion: For perusing terrain it is great. The faster speeds let you move along more quickly to get from one area to another.

Great addition to the dive gear: Less energy expended = less air consumptions = longer dive time...

But - Make sure you stick with your buddy at all times (and be sure you pick a buddy who will do the same!)

At first I was very skeptical with how such a small machine would perform. I figured for a little guy or small woman this would probably do well. Being 6' 270 lbs I said this poor little thing won't stand a chance especially in coldwater. I can't tell you enough how wrong I was! I tested this DPV with a colleague of mine. We both had them, I the 5000 and he the 3000. The 2 little machines ( I say little because these are the smallest DPV's I have ever seen) pulled each of us through the water in full coldwater scuba gear for at least 45 minutes. The battery was still going strong with no indicator of low battery lit. It was I that was getting tiered of pushing the thumb buttons and holding on (they put out some really strong torque). The DPV easily out performed many others I've tried. It was easy to charge, transport, ascend with and maneuver above and below the surface. I would recommend this to anyone wanting a good recreational DPV!
