JAMES F You should be fine. My waist is a 38 and I have XL. I fluctuate between 38 and 36; they fit perfect. I would go with the 2X. One word of caution is I have thin legs and the bottom elastic is snug. I hope this helps.

Miyuki S A 2XL will not fit. 2XL is for a 39-41 inch waist. A 3XL is for a 41-44 inch waist. You'd need 3XL.
