BRETT A Large for a tight fit and XL if you want a little looser fit. I wear a swimming suit under mine so the XL works better for me.

DOWNING B I'm also 5'11, but I haven't been 165 pounds since college, lol. And I was also unsure of which size, so I ordered both an XXL and an XL with the idea that I would keep the one with the better fit. I ended up keeping the XXL. Since you're smaller, I suggest you order both the XL and the L and return one or the other. Leisure Pro has a very liberal return policy, so all you have to do is print out a return authorization form, fill in the blanks and include it with the shorty you're returning. For convenience, you can use the original box. It will take about 3 days after LP receives it for them to credit your card. I've done this with several items over the years as it helps to compare things in person and have never had an issue with a return. Slight hassle but well worth it in the end.

ROBERT H I bought my suit in Jan. on the size to true. I would think a Med. would be the choose. The suit is 250 percent strechable and will fit you fine
