HARVEY C I'm shopping for a combo backup dive light and emergency strobe signal. Does this model just flash the LEDs? How does the flasher compare to a real xenon strobe? How do you turn the flasher on and off?
WAI C I use this torch as a focus light for macro photography. There's a lever switch to choose between "on" and "flasher". This model flashes the LEDS for emergency signalling. It's is definitely NOT a xenon strobe flasher.

RAY T I use this light as a "focus assist" light with large digital SLR for photography. I love this light. It's cheap, bright, and easy to use. There is a simple switch that, if flipped one way, will turn the light on. When flipped the other way, it will turn the flasher on. One of the potential problems, when traveling, that I can imagine, is that the switch might inadvertently switch on, since there is no locking mechanism like the Ikelite lights. I can't compare the flasher to a xenon strobe because I haven't used or seen one. Myself, my backup dive light is much smaller than this one---but that's my preference, since it is just an emergency light to get me back to the boat.
MARY E I love these lights. I first bought one as a modeling light to use on night dives but have since change over to using them for night dives as well. Very strong white light and the strobe flashes and makes you easy to find underwater at night. Strobe is plenty strong to use on the surface. My local dive shop even
asked me about them because they were so impressed.
