Junk! Falls apart, again and again...

Comments about Dive Rite Dive-Rite 90 ft # 36 Line Wreck Safety Reel # 4110:
Even after 20+ odd years of diving, and knowing better that price should NOT dictate gear selection, I went ahead and bought this reel as the 'price was right.'The main through-bolt that holds the reel to the frame has, repeatedly, while under water, has backed out of the frame leaving you underwater holding onto various pieces of reel. I use(d) this reel for my safety sausage, and deploy while deep (80-120') so my boat can find me as I am ascending. I have tried resecuring it, using a bit of JB Weld, etc etc.. and it still fails. JUNK! JUNK! JUNK! I am now going to do what I should have, and purchase a 'real' reel that may cost over double, but does not fall apart while in use. Do Not Buy!!

Great Reel from Dive Rite

About Me Technical Diver
As expected, this is another high quality reel from Dive Rite. The heavier line (#36) is a little better to keep tangle free than the lighter weight line.

drag screw eaily broken
By Mike
from Florida
About Me Recreational Diver
Nice small reel but: I broke the plasic drag screw and it was inoperable. I then tryed to pull some line off with the drag semi tightened down and the retainer Clip popped off and the reel decintegrated in front of my face at depth. I was not impressed, fixed it, sold it.I suggest a reel with a better designed lock down method. A plastic screw sticking out begging to be broken off is not a good idea. Hard plastic construction throuout is cheap.I bought a Manta reel. It seems superior constructed in every way, but has little use so far. So I can't report on that one yet.
