Shopper what is the minimum recommended age for this mouthpiece? I am looking for a snorkel for a 2 1/2 year old (yes, he can swim and hold his breath underwater, and he can use a mask). Do you have any advice?
LAURI M Sorry, I don't use this product and it was sent elsewhere as a gift, so I don't have any advice or working knowledge of the product at this time.
LARRY M I would not recommend snorkeling for any child under 8 years of age. He may swim like a fish, but if he doesn't clear the snorkel and gets a big breath of water you could have a coughing, panicked, drowning child really fast. I didn't have much success getting my kids to even want to use a snorkel when they were under 10.
Regarding size, every mouth is different, but I can tell you that my 10 and 14 year old sons used this snorkel comfortably while diving and snorkeling this summer. My teen liked it better than a full sized snorkel.
EARL M I wouldn't try it or any snorkel on any child less than 7.
International certification age for SCUBA is 10 for a very good reason. Unless you have instructor or military level skills, just enjoy regular swimming with the little one. No need to give a false sense of security. Mother ocean is unforgiving!!!
TAMARA T We bought it for a 7 year old and it worked GREAT! The mouth piece is small. I think you should try it.
