This new Solar Atomic model is based on the original DW6900 model, G-Shock's best-selling case design. With this model, a Solar Atomic Timekeeping system wasemployed without changing the basic design of the watch. This makes it possible to generate power to keep the watch running with extreme accuracy and minimal exposure to normal lighting. This simple design was achieved by eliminating as much coloring and decoration as possible and the result is a model that capturesthe essence of the basic G-Shock.
The atomic timekeeper function receives time calibration radio signals automatically up to six times a day which keep the displayed time accurate, alsohas a manual receiver function; the signal received for the US is WWVB at a frequency of 60 kHz, UK is MSF at 60kHz, Germany DCF77 at 77.5kHz, Japan JJ40/JJY60 and China BPC at BPC 68.5kHz, world time with 31 time zones (48 cities+ UTC), city code display, and daylight saving on/off function, watch has full auto EL backlight with afterglow making it one great watch in low light conditions.
