Nils J not extended how long is this item from end to end?
ROY S I like this retractor very much. The long 36" cord length and the very light tension makes it ideal for a writing slate, where I don't want to fight the tension while I'm writing, and can extend the slate for others to read what I wrote. It's also good for a lightweight stand-alone compass, since it allows you to extend it far in front of you. It's light duty tension makes it not suitable for heavy objects like a 4-C-cell flashlight, since the weight will make it dangle.
GEORGE S approx. 24 inches
AUDREY H from the very top of the clip to the very bottom of the ring it is 6 inches.
MIGUEL C Nils, I agree with James R, being small has good performance
MIGUEL C very good since I have it no problem works well
PAUL G It is 5 inches long.
JAMES R Nils, I purchased a couple of these as I needed something small as many of the retractors out there are just to bulky. I just moved into a new house and still unpacking so I cannot get it out to measure but I can tell you it is the smallest one I have seen and measures less then 2 inches when retracted. It is also very thin so it makes for a good retractor that stays out of the way.
It has a decent amount of pull as I use it on my Suunto Cobra 3 Computer to keep it against my body. The quick disconnect is great for doing safety stops and navigation should you need more maneuverability.
