Keith I I do underwater pool repair and with age my eyes have started to fail me. I am looking for 1.5 maginification lenses that I can insert into the bottom of my Sherwood Mako mask. I still want to be able to look staight ahead through the mask lens only and have the magnification only when I look down. Will these magnifiers work for me and what is the magnification? My doctor said not to go over 1.75.
Thanks,
Keith
MICHAEL I Keith,
I tried 2.0 magnifiers which is what my bifocal glasses are and they were ok but not great. I'm not sure if I would drop it to 1.75 next time due to some magnification fom water to start with. I have Tusa Power View mask w/ deep drop down lens and I mounted magnifiers a half inch above lowest point of mask and was happy. Just dove with 3 divers from Tucson AZ. who had magnifiers professionaly installed but put them all in the bottom of the lens and all three complained they were to low but they have stayed in place.
PLEASE NOTE my Trident Aqua Optics lens still would not stay in place for more than 2 dives even with their new glue. I am going to try and return them. They installed ok, no air bubbles but wouldn't stay put. first pair of dives in 50 deg. water and second dives in 84 deg same results.
Good Luck,
Mike
GARY C The stick on's work but u have to be careful not to rinse them out
HENRY M After 45 years of diving I broke down and got, prescriptions. I have bifocals and now I can read my compass and gauges!! Who knew. Get a good mask and send it off to get the prescription put in. I should have done it years ago. But first you will need to go to the Eye DR.
Hope this helps,
Safe diving.
