I spoke with the technician who serviced my reg setup recently and he showed me his reg setup and he had NO hose protectors on his! Told me that hose protectors ruin more hoses than they protect because of the salt residue that builds up underneath them. I think these hose protectors are the answer because 1) they have drain holes that let the salt water drain out after a dive and let fresh water in when you rinse, and 2) they are pliable enough that they can be pushed back from where the hose enters the First Stage of the reg so the metal fitting can be thoroughly rinsed. Once the setup is dry, they can be pushed back up where they belong. I have 3 reg setups and I have replaced the hose protectors on all of them with these.

Overall, not bad. They went on easily enough, but the hose guard really doesn't fit flex hoses well at all. I put one on there anyway, as it grips the fitting well, but I don't anticipating the guard holding on for long. The guard fits best (almost too tight) on my HP hose. If you have all rubber hoses, you should be fine.

I have read reviews that stated this product to be difficult to install. I experienced nothing of the sort. I did not even have to boil for flexibility. The product is very well constructed.
