Questions about this item:
Shopper I'm 5'9", 170 lbs, waist 32"-33", chest 39"-40", hip 39"-40". I'm somewhat between sizes. It looks like I could either go for a Medium/Large or Large. I'm at the top end of the Medium/Large and bottom end of the Large. Would a large fit me well? Since I live outside the U.S., I am not able to use the PPF program. Once I purchase this product, that's final.
PETER G I'm 6'0", waist 33-34, chest 41-42, and weigh about 180. I wear a Medium/Large and don't feel consticted in the least. This suit is pretty forgiving and stretchy, so I'd go with the ML if I were you. With 3mm suits (I'm on my 4th) I 've always gone with a Medium/Large (O'Neil, Body Glove, Bare, and Akona) and none of them have been too tight. I think you run the risk of the opposite if you go with the Large. Good luck!
STEPHEN S I bought this suit for my oldest son who was normally a large. Similar proportions to you but a little bigger. He usually takes a large and we ordered a large but had to exchange it for an XL. These run slightly small so if I were you I would go with the Large. It sounds like it would be ideal for your size. My son was very happy with it and used it on every dive (5 dives per day) for 12 days in the South Pacific without a single issue.
BENJAMIN G Sorry Don't know
JOHN H I found that their sizes run significantly small. In your scenario, I would definitely get the larger of your choices
Rafael K Thank you JOHN. I will go for Large!
DAWN G I found this suit had ample stretch to it. You sound more of a medium/large to me but I would keep in mind how stable is your weight/size....does it fluctuate much? Is there anywhere near you that has store stock you could try a similar item on first for reassurance? If all else fails, resell the item and reorder. Best wishes and happy bubbles!
Rafael K Thank you, DAWN! I will follow your advice.
WILLIAM B I'm the same size. I went with the Large. width is good the only thing is if you have short legs they might be a little long.
Rafael K I have short legs!! Then I should go for M/L? Large is out of stock anyways.
LOWREY H I would advise going for the larger size. I found the product to be true to size or slightly small. Additionally, with age, neoprene tends to lose some elasticity. It would make the product easier to put on later in its use if not too tight to begin with.
Rafael K Thank you for your advice. I really appreciate it.
Igal V I'm 5 ft 8.5 in, chest 39 in, waist 33 in, hips 35 in, weight 158 lbs. Akona site calc says I'm in between MD & ML sizes. Should I stick to the smaller or a larger size ?
The next question: is this suit warm enough for 70 F or maybe Bare 5/4 velocity would be a better choice ?
What's would be the size of Bare 5/4 velocity suit that I should get then ?
PS: I felt warm enough with 5 mm long sleeve shorty in 70 F (that's why I'm considering 3mm Akona jumpsuit).
Thanks for any advice
PETER G I'm 6'0", chest 43, waist 34, 180#, and I wear the ML currently. I'd go with the smaller size, but I like my suit to be snug. I've been wearing this suit for longs days (many hours) in the water for tropical diving (78-84F). I'm comfortable in this suit, but think that I would want a bit more warmth for 70F.
GREG W The Akona suits run a little small but a very good fit. I work in the Caribbean and have no issues with the water temps that average in the 70-80 range.
WILLIAM B I'm 5'9"-5'10" 175. The Akona legs will be a little too long in the ML. For 70* water 3mm is good. For cold diving 50* water on the bottom in NJ you would want 7mm.
Igal V Thanks, William. Red sea, no NJ dives meanwhile :)
BENJAMIN G I suggest get the larger size as they are. Tight.
Patrice P I am buying this for my husband who is 6'4", 180 pounds...is he an xl or 2xl. He is a 54 waist...tall and think. Suggestions?
STEVEN C I'm 6'4" and 195 with a 35" waist, the XL fit just fine. It is just alittle large in the thighs and waist but overall the suit fits good. I finally found one with good lenght in the legs.
MICHAEL B No problem. I'm 6'2", 300 lbs and I have a 46 inch waist. I bought a 4x and it fits perfectly and works even better. Very comfortable too. I definitly recommend this suit! Hope this helps.
JOHN H I found that the Akona sizing runs about a size too small. It doesn't seem possible that someone who is 6'4"/180lb could possibly have a 54 inch waist. Is that a typo?? Do you mean 34" perhaps?
JOSHUA R 6'4, 180lbs with a 54 waist? Are you sure about the waist? That just sounds a bit off for his height/weight. I'm 6'4, 280lbs with a 42 waist and I'm a big guy. I wear a 3xl. I had a 2xl, but it was a bit too tight.
ROB H I am 6'2" 180, and the xl fits great. I cannot imagine he really has a 54 waist at that height and weight, maybe 34. The xl should fit fine.
RICHARD S 6'4", 180 pounds and a 54 inch waist? How can that be?
SCOTT J I would suggest an 3 xl. They have great return and sizing policy
LEW B Mine runs on the small side so I suggest you buy a 2xl for him.
Shopper Is there a sizing chart anywhere on the web site for the wet suits?
LeisurePro S Here is a sizing chart.
Shopper Is there a difference between a wetsuit and a jumpsuit? And what does 3/2MM represent or mean?
LeisurePro S A jumpsuit is simply the term used to describe a one piece wetsuit as opposed to a farmer john/jacket two piece suit. 3/2 (or any number combination such as 5/7, 6/7, etc.) means that the suit is 3 mm thick in the chest/core area for warmth and 2mm in the arms and legs for increased flexibility.
