Questions about this item:
Duane G Can you please recommend the basic necessities to accompany this reg for someone who only has a BCD and a wrist computer? Such as octopus, pressure gauge & .....?
ROBERT A Just used my new Aeris equipment this week and the Aeris AT 400 Sport DVT regulator worked great! Got the standard octo and added a compass to the console.
Frank L You would need the reg, octo, and some sort of pressure gauge console to make a complete regulator system. Call us directly for more guidance.
Andrey G The description says it is environmentally sealed - DOES it mean it is suitable for cold water diving?
CARLA S I have dove mine in the Pacific Northwest without any problem.
MAHLON H I live in Maine and dive during the winter in the ocean and have never had a problem with it. It's a great regulator.
PAULA Z I have been on several cold water dives with mine. It works great.
ELIZABETH L I have used it in water as cold about 52. Not sure if that's what it means but it seems to work fine for me :)
KALE N I believe they are referring to the regulator being completely sealed up to prevent debris or water from entering and causing problems. However, I used this regulator in around 35-40? water at depth and had no problems.
EMILY S Your answer should be within the specifications or description of the product. I purchased this regulator as a back up to my main equipment because I've had trouble with my main regulator in the past. I wouldn't have cared if it was for cold water.
BIENIEK G Unfortunately, it is not a cold-water diving regulator. But it can be! An Aeris certified service center can remedy that problem by ordering and installing a cold water kit for about $30 plus labor. I made the mistake by not properly researching the AT400 before diving in the 41 degree Lake Superior in June. 5 minutes is all it took to start free-flowing. The DVT designation refers a feature on the yoke of the 1st stage that keeps and water and or debris while not in use. I didn't chose install the cold water kit, but chose to purchase a Hollis setup. I will still continue to use the Aeris as a backup as well as on any warm-water dive trips because it is still a great regulator. My opinion, give the cold water kit a try, it's still cheaper than other regulators out there. Hope it helps!
Craig E Enviro seal means that it is equipped with DVT or Dry Valve Technology. When you remove a standard 1st stage from the tank there is a possibility that water or contaminants can enter the unit. The DVT is a piston valve on the 1st stage that automatically opens when attached to the tank and immediately closes upon removal from the tank - keeping the internal valve mechanisms clean and dry. I now exclusively dive with an Oceanic EOS which is cold water certified, so you will have to check with Aeris directly to be sure if the AT 400 sport is ok for cold water use.
JOSEPH L Audrey, my answer is that I believe the regulator is, in fact, rated for cold water diving. That is one of the primary reasons why I purchased it. Not only is is not supposed to freeze up, but it's also easier to breathe at deep depths in cold water. Saying that, I think that you should check out Aeris's website that gives the technical specs and design features of the unit. My 14 year old and I dove off Puerto Rico and Long Island, NY as well as a very cold quarry in PA. Naturally, the warm water presented no problems at all and I can tell you that I was very pleased with the breathing performance in the quarry. Hope that helps.
Lenin M is it din or yoke?
PAMALA P It's a yoke valve. It wraps around the top of the tank and uses a screw in the back to tighten. The air valve is inserted into the front of the tank and tightened into place by a screw in the back.
BRIAN C It is a yoke connection
MITCHELL M It is a Yoke. Although I have not had the chance to use it since it was sent to my US address... maybe soon!!!
PAULA Z It is a yoke connection.
Shopper What is the difference between the Aeris AT 400 Sport DVT and the Aeris AT 400 ION DVT ??
JOHN M The Ion allows adjustment of the secondary stage - breathing resistance, preventing free flow etc., The sport is preset. I am a relative diving newby and wanted a unit that was reliable and simple. I have not used the regulator yet.
fatih a Does AERIS Sport DVT regulator can be configured with lower inhaliation results like a PRO DVT regulator. The main difference is inhaliation efford. Because the Aeris Pro is pneumatically balanced and comes with a slightly lower factory inhalation effort than the sport?
Brett H The Aeris sport regulator can be adjusted by a technician to a certain extent to have a lower inhalation effort than it does as stock. Being that the Pro has a pneumatically balanced second stage it will generally be able to have a lower inhalation effort than the Sport even if the sport has been adjusted.
Shopper I have scubapro geo BC and scubapro air 2 inflator combination. does aeris AT400 HP connection fits these gear? thanks
Brett H Yes, the Aeris regulator is compatible with the Geo BC and the Air 2.
Shopper how deep... i can go???
Brett H The mfg does not post a maximum depth on the regulator, but they do suggest you don't exceed recreational limits.
Fadi G what is the difference between this regulator and the oceanic CDX5 DVT with GT3 second stage ?
Brett H They are very similar regulators, but the GT3 has an additional adjustment knob on the second stage which will let you change the breathing effort while you are diving.
Carole P This would be a gift for my husband and I don't know anything about diving. Does this include a "mouth piece" for breathing?
RICH L Yes it does include the mouth piece. I have about 15 dives on it and haven't had any jaw fatigue either.
Hope this helps.
ROBERT T Carol,
Yes this has a mouthpiece for breathing. This is a good medium range regulator with first and second stages and should be ready to use right out of the box. Your husband will want to add an octopus, computer and inflater hose before using it on a dive. If he is a certified diver he'll know all about that.
He will love this regulator.
Julie R Does this come with a manufacturer's warranty? If so, how long is the warranty and what does it cover??
David R It is a full 2 year manufacturers warranty and covers whatever they offer.
Shopper Which is the difference between Aeris AT 400 Sport and Aeris AT 400 Pro?
LeisurePro S The Aeris Pro is pneumatically balanced and comes with a slightly lower factory inhalation effort than the sport.
Shopper Why Did You Choose This?
Craig E Good "pool" reg. to use in teaching - This reg can take a beating and still perform to OEM specs time after time - Aeris makes a quality product and is a "little cousin" of Oceanic..!
MANUEL G Z It looked and felt solid and reliable. Reviews were favorable. What a mistake! The purge valve membrane cracked and disintegrated. I am still awaiting for parts (on backorder?!) from LeisurePro (customer service bites).

Whats in the box:1st Stage, 2nd Stage, LP Hose, Owners Manual Aeris' 400 Sport DVT regulator's patented dry valve design means you won't have to sacrifice performance and durability in order to have a regulator that won't flood. This second stage will be the work horse of your dive gear; it will keep you breathing easily dive after dive. High performance balanced diaphragm first stage with environmental seal and the added protection of DVT (Dry Valve Technology). The Aeris 400 Sport DVT uses a high performance over-balanced diaphragm first stage with environmental seal and the added protection of DVT (Dry Valve Technology). DVT (Dry Valve Technology) is one of the most significant innovations in regulator technology in recent history. DVT is a fully automatic valve that protects your first stage regulator's internal components against the harsh water environment in which we work and play; with no impact on the regulator's first-class performance. DVT provides an "automatic extra layer of protection" from environmental contamination such as dirt, dust, sand, spray, dripping and pooled water, or even a "flash flood" in a rinse tank. DVT improves performance and reduces service costs associated with corrosion of critical internal components, bacteria, hose deterioration, and damaged gauges and computers. The first stage has two HP and 4 LP ports, weighs 29 oz (822 g). The all chrome plated marine brass first stage regulator is an over balanced diaphragm design which is environmentally sealed. The diaphragm membrane transmits the pressure changes to the internal mechanism eliminating the need for the surrounding water to enter the intricate mechanism. The benefit of this type of first stage design is that none of the internal parts are exposed to contaminants such as salt, sand, chlorine or pool acids. These environmental contaminants cause corrosion and mineral deposits to form on the internal mechanism deteriorating regulator performance. The 400 Sport DVT's lightweight design and patented orthodontic mouthpiece mean you'll be comfortable and breathing easily throughout your dive and won't face post-dive jaw discomfort once you've returned to the surface. The 400 Sport second stage with an outer ring diameter of only 2.67" (6.8 cm) and 7 oz (198 g) weight. The Sport's second stage is made from an ABS/Polycarbonate composite blend of materials making it both extremely rugged and lightweight, reducing jaw fatigue on extended dives. The extremely lightweight cover ring is machined from a solid piece of aircraft aluminum, and then hard anodized, utilizing a unique process to prevent corrosion. The 400 Sport is classified as being suitable for use with nitrox breathing gas mixtures containing up to 40% oxygen by volume without the need for special preparation, cleaning or component parts. Second stage comes with a venturi control switch. The venturi assist deflector vane directs airflow from the valve directly to the mouthpiece producing a smooth "venturi assisted" inhalation. Turning the venturi assist down, to a pre-dive position, prevents regulator free-flow while on the surface. All Aeris regulators come with a 24 month limited warranty. Due to MFG restrictions, this can be sold to the USA and Caribbean only.
