Shopper I would like a swimming cap skull type , is this cap the right one ?

EMILY G This is not a plastic swim cap, but it is a thin neoprene cap. I love mine.

WILLIAM V E It depends. If you simply want to keep your head warm and/or control your hair (if yours is long), then this is great. I use it for scuba diving. On the other hand, if you are doing competitive swimming, then you might want something that is more slick and doesn't have the neck strap.

GARRY D This is the one I like best! I use it when diving and have added a small slit in the back to release any bubbles that get inside....

Shopper Will this beanie fit a head size ~ 22 inches diameter?

LOUISE A My head measures 22 inches and it fits fine.

Shopper Are there ventilation holes on top?

NELL V No, there isn't any holes on top. The chin straps holds it in place well. Order this cap a size smaller than you usually wear. There is a lot of stretch.

GARRY D No! But I added a small (1 inch) slit and it works great. Best way to be comfortable on those cool night dives!

CLINT F No. Air does collect in it and I have thought about putting in a couple holes myself.

LOUISE A No, but I simply added them myself with a pair of cuticle scissors.

JOHN M No there are no ventalation holes on this beanie. Sizes run small as well...FYI.

ANNE T There are no ventilation holes on the top of the beanie.

CATHY D no, but since it does not cover as much of your head as a regular hood you don't really need a vent, imho

LAWRENCE B No ventilation holes on top. Just being a cap though trapped air doesn't seem to be as big an issue as it can be with a full hood.

SHAWN L I have not had a problem with air build-up in the beanie....ever! I do think there is a venting system but I am not near the beanie right now. I really like mine and have used it for over 75 dives.

ROBERT S No holes, I was able to make my own with a hot nail.

WILLIAM V E No, but I have not found that I need them. The beanie does not seem to be as prone as a regular hood to getting exhaust bubbles trapped inside.

DAVID K No holes. It has a solid top.

MONICA V No ventilation holes on top. It can get warm, but I also find this a plus when you want to skip a wetsuit.

SHEILAH H How is the hood secured? What type of clip?

MONICA V It's velcro. Very comfortable, no issues at all with anything coming loose.

KATHLEEN G It is a velcro tab. Works fine.

GAIL S The hood is secured by velcro under the chin. The problem I have with this hood is that it needs to be tighter. I have very long hair and when I have the hood on, the hair will tend to move the hood when I am diving.

SHAWN L Hood uses velcro for fastener. I have over 60 dives with mine and never had a problem. I really like the Beanie. I use the velcro to use a ring on my BC to hold the beanie when I am not wearing it or when I am getting on or off a dive boat. Feels smooth under the chin......no scraches, no rub marks from the velcro.

ALEX L The hood is secure. There is no clip. The chin strap connects to the hood with velcro.

DAVID D A velcro clip is used. I wasnt sure about these, but they have really worked great. Good sunproctection on the surface and warmth for moderate waters. Only drawback is that mask must be secured to face, inside of the hat and not on the hat itself, but that is obviously easy fix.

JASON S It uses Velcro. Easy on and off. I've had mine a few years and probably 200 dives later it's in good shape.

SHEILAH H How many dives have you done with it? I am concerned about the wear on the velcro over time.

JEFFREY F I had the one that this one is replacing for about 5 years, before I lost it on a Public Safety Dive operation. I have lost count on how many dive I had on it. Most of the dives where fresh water. Other team members have similar beanies with velcro, and theirs seem to be holding up very well. They dive a lot in salt water.

ELKE S See where the logo is on the side? That's a one inch Velcro fastener. Very nice hood. I wear mine under a thicker hooded vest, diving CA.

SHEILAH H How many dives have you done with it? I am concerned about the wear on the velcro over time.

ELKE S I'm not worried about wear. The velcro feels strong. Maybe 30 dives so far. I ordered a medium, it's not extemely tight.

Shopper How do you determine what size you need?

LeisurePro S A rough size guideline (circumference of head): Small = 21-22 inches, Medium = 22-23 inches, Large = 23-24 inches, XL = 24-25 inches, XXL = 25-26 inches.

The picture on the internet catalog is the XS Scuba Titanium beanie of which is what I thought I was ordering, however, what I received it the xs tropic beanie which is less coverage and not as quality as titanium. The picture on the catalog should be changed to reflect the actual beanie being sent.

Velcro closure not really necessary - just neoprene strap like the Neo Sport or O'Neill beanie works fine to stretch under chin.

LP has a great exchange policy if fit is not right.
