Shopper Does this have to be mounted alongside a console or can it be attached to any hose (without a console)?
MARK G I bought this last March. It has a loop on the back that slides over the hose. It does not have any method of tightening around the hose. it is intended to be on the tapered portion of the console.
BRENT M While it is true that the unit is designed to be used with the TUSA console. I have been using it for over a year WITHOUT it touching any console. I connected it to the hose that my console is on, but it is about 2" away from the console. I used two small plastic zip ties (one above and one below the compass) to keep it from sliding but you cant even see these.
BRENT M I have this unit and it can be mounted to any (standard size) hose. You do not need a console to use this unit.
EDWIN H Hi, I put this item in the hose of the console, but you can put this in any hose without a console too.
WARD G it won't mount on a hose as it's 1.5 larger it might mount on the start of a console were it's only a little larger than the hose, but it might be able to slide off on to the hose.
TY K It is designed with a molded loop that goes over the hose and a squareish end that slides up on the console. This serves to keep it in place and not spinning. I would not use it without the console.

EDWARD K I mounted it to my console however it can easly mount to any hose or to your bcd hope this helps
CAI H It can be attached to any hose. I did put some tie raps on the hose, to avoid the compass from sliding along the hose itself.
JOSHUA G This is designed to work specifically with a Tusa Console. It will not mount to any hose, it is designed to slip onto the lower part of the console. The hole is large enough for me to slip my thumb into with 3 mm gloves on; so I used it as an external compass which was clipped off to a dring.
ROBERT F A picture of the back side would have given you a better idea :-) The back clamps onto the bottom of the console with a molded C shaped arrangement. It would NOT fit directly onto a hose without some sort of modification.
Hope that helps...
