clint a Hey I am a free diver looking for something small just for a few more minutes so my question how big is it like width and height and how long would the tank last 5-10 minutes?
DAVID C The Spare Air unit is about 14-inches long with a diameter of 2.5-inches, it's very compact. I have not used it for free diving and so far has not had to rely on it to get back up but per the specs, you should get between 35 and 50 breadths depending on depth. They say to connect it to your BC but i have found this to be a bit of a pain with all of the other gear i carry so i added straps and attach it to my calf..this keeps it out of the way but very accessible. If you are going to use it when you get to the bottom, use it like a regular scuba tank on the way up - go slow.
SUSAN M When my husband tested it he was able to get 34 breaths before it ran out.
PAUL G It's about 8 inches long and clips to your belt.
It last about 40 breaths.
DAN B It would depend n several factors based on depth, experience of diver. Usually, the rule of thumb has been with Spare Air is to get you safely to the surface from 100 feet. Taking a 5 minute safety stop would eat into most I would think. But at least you could get to the surface safely with no deco sickness and not bent.
ANDREW S It's about a foot tall. Not a good option for freedivers. I assume you want something if you have a fish that tangles up on bottom too far down or a similar situation. This will only last a couple of minutes at depth, if that. Better off with a bigger pony bottle set up.
