Paul B What is meant by surelock weight system?
JOHN L Paul,
weight(s) are put into surelock pouch then is slid into BCD where red emergancy removal handles are engauged into the Surelock II system. This system also made weight installation and removal a breeze. I liked this system over the velcro system on some other BCD's. Fit and feel were great.
STEVEN H THE WEIGHT POCKETS LOCK INTO THE VEST. YOU CAN HEAR THEM SNAP IN AND THIS IS THE LOCK IN OF THE WEIGHT POCKETS.THEY CAN BE CHECKED FOR SECURITY OF LOCK IN BY GRABBING THE BACK OF THE POCKET AND PULLING ON A FRONT CORNER AND YOU SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO PULL THE WEIGHT POCKET OUT. TO RELEASE THE WEIGHT POCKET PULL ON THE HANDLE ON THE FRONT OF THE WEIGHT POCKET AND THIS WILL RELEASE IT. i HOPE THIS WAS USE FULL
JOHN H This is the quick release pouches at the front of the BCD where weights are stored. The pouches "click" or lock into place at each side. The grey handles of the pouches are visible in the photo.
DAVID K It means that it has integrated weight pockets in the front and unlike earlier ways of incorporating this feature, these pockets have an added snap that prevents them from just falling out - but you can still overcome the snap with a purposeful tug if you need to ditch the weight.
ROBERT B The Surelock system referes to the two ditch weight pockets. I haven't used the BC since last year but the two pockets lock into place as you can see on the photo of the BC, but they require only a firm pull to release and ditch your weight pockets. Most other BC's, such as my ScubaPro T-Black (European) model BC. The two pockets are locked by a plastic quick release latch such as the ones on a shoulder strap. I do not rely on such clips to be "quick" release emergency ditch pockets as it take a few minutes of fumbling to unlatch each clip and then pull your weight pockets out to ditch them in an emergency. But on the Sea Quest Pro QD, the two pockets are true "quick" release ditch weight pockets and stay secure in the BC. I would rely on this system for that purpase so It's a good system In my opinion. Hope that helps.
But I will say, the quality of the material/product isn't as good as I thought until I used it. The BC fits great but does squeeze you a bit if you fill it up at the surface. Side pockets are huge and kinda bulky. One of the plastic tabs on the zipper of the left pocket broke off and I think the BC material isn't as durable as my T-black. Overall it's a great BC, I still have it and will keep it, but I'd give it a 7 out of 10 score.
MIKE B its the "bags" on the left and right of the BCD that hold weights. they're essentially Velcro-closed fabric & plastic containers you put weights into to adjust your buoyancy. you can see the gray "pull handles" in the picture on the lower-left and lower-right. they "sure-lock" in place and can be removed quickly by pulling on the gray handle. the containers slide out of the pockets toward the front of the vest.
KEVIN N That's a locking device in the pocket where the integrated weights slide in. You put the weights in a pouch with a grooved backing, slide it into the pocket until it clicks. Once it clicks it is locked in and will not come out unless you give it a firm tug on the pouch handle. Works well. Not too hard to get in. Not too hard to get out. Weights don't ever drop out during the dive. This is a nice BC by the way.
MAXIMILIANO W Hi,
I assume it means that the pockets it has for the intergated weight system are loocked in a sure way. When using the BC I never had a problem with the integrated weight. When you put the weight in the pockets system it does that nice click sound that means"...dude you are almost prepare to do down and dive"
Hope to be helpfull, and my english is correct
Paul B So this means no weight belt?
MAXIMILIANO W yes it?s integrated. look at the pockets on the BC and you will noticed the device where you put the weight.
No more belts, needed
ART D Surelock Weight System is Sea Quest (Aqualung) system for securing your weight pouches on the BC. The weight pouches slide into the pocket and "click" when they are locked in. A firm tug on the handles and the pouches release.
ANGEL A I believe it refers to the mechanism to keep the weight pouches in place, the mechanism employs a quick pull to drop the weights while providing an easy way to snap/secure them in place?.IMHO a great BCD!
DOUG C The surelock weight system is a set of pockets that you can add weight to if needed. They are removable velcroed pockets for more weight that add to each side the bcd.
