The dry snorkel is great. Water rearly gets into the tube but the purge valves clear it fast with one blow. The comfort of the mouth piece does not tire out my jaw like other ones do. A good thing is you can even replace the mouth piece if needed. This is a great buy.

I purchased two of these and had the same problem with both. The valve that closes when water hits also closes due to high winds and if the head is tilted and the snorkel is at an angle. I do a lot of snorkeling in the Keys mostly for lobster. Many times when coming to the surface desperate for air, there was none. The valve was closed. I eventually solved the problem by gluing a small stainless steel washer to the valve so that the valve is less sensitive. It now works very well and I have not had a repeat of the problem

The Wettest "Dry" Snorkel I've Known

Comments about Scubapro Scuba Pro Laguna 2 Snorkel:
I use my snorkels in very calm water; a pool, actually, as part of my work out routine. So the fact that this snorkel lets in SO much water while I swim is staggering! It also has the odd habit of just closing up every so often, as if the valve at the top isn't balanced quite right. Not cool.So yeah, between drinking a lot of water with this snorkel and not always being able to breathe, I would NOT recommend this piece of equipment! I started shopping for a new snorkel after about three times of using this one.

DO NOT BUY THIS SNORKEL : DEADLY DESIGN

About Me Advanced
I bought ScubaPro's Laguna 2 snorkel because of all the great reviews. The first few dives using the Laguna 2 were much wetter than I expected, in comparison with my ScubaPro Escape. After only a few dives this snorkel failed on me during a shore dive. The valve at the top had some how sealed off inhalation airflow. I could not breath IN, only out!I spent several minutes in the water troubleshooting how exactly this was happening? Air exhales, no inhale, weird!? I ended up easily popping off the whole top valve mechanism so that I could continue my surface swim before descending at the reef. This design is a BIG problem and someone may drown using it and I believe ScubaPro should take this snorkel off the market. My BCD, Regs, and fins are all ScubaPro so I do trust the company, although now I have replaced the Laguna 2 with a plain, large-bore Atomic SV1 snorkel which has been trouble free for over 30 dives. Leisurepro's outstanding exchange process was hassle free.

After 28 years of diving with a Scubapro big bore contoured snorkel (the knd the US Navy issued in the '80s), my wife told me it was time to move into the 21st century, so I ordered one of these. Boy, had I been missing out! Now, my snorkels don't get a lot of use when I dive, and this one was more than adequate for diving. But it really came into it's own when I snorkeled in the shallows. It is light weight, does not cause any jaw fatigue, and is quite dry, even in choppy water. I especially like the quick detach feature, which enables you to leave the clip on your mask strap but detach the snorkel itself for easy packing and storage.
