Questions about this item:
Shopper On the transmitter, my tanks are 4500 psi, is the transmitter rated for that?
DORIS D usually a tank is charged until 3000 psi, but if you charge it until 4500 the oceanic computer will work ok.
ZACHARY H I am not 100% positive, I looked through my documentation and found it to say that it was good to 5000psi. However, it wasn't totally clear, so I would recommend calling Oceanic and asking their customer service. I can tell you that the watch and the transmitter work great. Hope that helps.
MITCHELL N I am not sure and I don't think that is correct. It seems a really high reading. My suggestion is to contact Oceanic and discuss that with the tech people.
Miyuki S The transmitter is rated to 5000.
manolis p Does this computer have a digital compass?
KENNETH K No, It does not have a digital compass.
CARL M No, the Atom 3 does not have a digital compass.
TIMOTHY B Nope. No digital compass.
WARREN Q Sorry Manolis but this model doesn't have a compass built in, I wish it did.
Warren
Keith M No compass, but still a good basic computer.
LISA P No I don't believe that it does. But I love this dive computer!
JOHN L No digital compasses aren't really accurate in dive computers. Better off with a free standing compass by Suunto
STEPHEN K It does not have a digital compass
MITCHELL N no it does not. It is a great computer
STEFAN W No. Fraid not. No digital compass in the Atom 3. It has a ton of great features but no compass.
SCOTT F No, unfortunately.
BRONSON M It does not have a digital compass.
WILLIAM A No, it does not. Great CPU though.
Charlie C Sounds like what I am looking for. Need to know if the battery is user changeable? Charlie
Frank L It is user replaceable, but the manufacturer recommends an authorized retailer to do the battery change.
Shopper Does this product come with a USB download cable or did you have to buy it seperate?
Michael C Whats in the box:Computer, Transmitter, PC Cable, Digital Online Class
Konstantin V Whether you can compare the size of figures on the display?
Such as at atom 2 or how at tusa zen air or another?
Michael C it is very similar to the Atom 2
Mauricio N Is it easy to read the screen under low visibility conditions, like low light or even reflex light over the screen?
STEPHEN G I haven't had any problems reading the screen in low-vis scenarios; however like all computer watches, there is alot of information on a fairly small display.
KELLI H Backlit so it works fine.
BRUCE T It's is very easy to read under low visibility, the glow button also plays a big role when your are diving through a ship wreck or a very dark place! All around I give it an A+! It's a fantastic dive computer and is very user friendly.
BRONSON M Hey,
The screen is very easy to read. In low light situations it has a built in light that works great.
WARREN Q It's not to hard to read in low light if you have good vis and good eyesight. Glare from dive light can also make it hard to see. I was using it in Monterey Bay in 1 foot vis and dark, I couldn't see it too well (can't say too much about my eyesight it sucks). It's a good product, and I can't wait to use it on my next warm water trip. Good luck with your decision. Warren
Mauricio N Tnahks Warren.
RON W I have only used it during one night dive so far. I mainly used my dive light to look at it, but even when I used the backlight on the computer, it was easy to see. The light is kind of like the "indiglo" backlight on my watch. I actually like it better than my Mares Icon.
Nick G Are you able to check your gas supply in PSI while still on the surface (without getting the computer wet)?
MARIUSZ K Yes you can. Pressure transmitter will turn on as long as pressure regulator have 140 psi. I have just used Atom 3.0 on 21 dive 6 day trip.
Mario
Bill P Yes, you can.
Nick G Thank you BIll.
Please tell me if this computer ever loses signal from the transmitter at all while on a dive?
Nick
MAX W Yes - you put it into the "SURF" mode by holding one or two of the buttons for a moment or two.
Nick G Thank you Max.
Please tell me if this computer ever loses signal from the transmitter at all while on a dive?
Thanks, Nick
MAX W It does, actually, but it is seldom an issue. I have never had a problem getting a pressure reading when holding it in a "reading position" in front of me. At worst, I wait 10 seconds for it to regain a connection and display the pressure automatically (and you can set and decrease the polling/refresh time). I believe you can also set a "disconnected" alarm so if it doesen't get a reading for X seconds/minutes, it will alert you.
Otherwise, If you use the A3 to monitor a buddy's air, you really need to be within 5-10 feet (at most) for it to be consistently effective. I haven't had a ton of experience with other integrated hoseless computers, but have to imagine that's fairly common for most models/manufacturers.
Nick G Hi Max,
Thanks again for the extra information. This will help me decide which dive computer to buy.
It is narrowed down to (not in order of preference):
Oceanic Atom 3.0
Oceanic Atom 2.0
Aeris Elite
Oceanic OC1
Oceanic VT4
Aeris Elite T3
Nick
