Shopper Is this octo rates for Nitrox?
Miyuki S You can use this octo for nitrox up to 40%. It nice and compact and I've never had any issues with it. I dive in colder water and have never had it freeflow.

Shopper Can the Mares MV octo be used with an Aqualung Titan first stage?
CLARENCE J K The Mares MV is a standard second stage, and should be able to be used with any first stage. I personally have a Sherwood regulator, and the Mares octo works great.
Steve S Yes this can be used with an Aqualung first stage. I know a lot of people who use different brand octos than their primary reg.
GARY C It COULD be used, but differences in intermediate pressure might make it operate at less than peak efficiency. Make things easier: stick with the same brand on regulator stages.

Shopper I see a yellow hose in the photo. Does it come with the yellow hose? How long is the hose?

GARY C According to information found on the Mares website (mares dot com), the hose is yellow and it is 100cemtimeters in length. That's 39 inches for us Americans.
PHILIP N It does come with the yellow hose but not sure of the length although it is slightly longer than my primary hose. BTW, this regulator works nicely, I routinely will switch regulators while diving to exercise this one.

DUNCAN M Yes, it comes with a yellow hose. The hose is long enough to be tucked intoo the front of your BC or attached to your BC so it doesn't dangle.
A word of caution regarding Mares products ... they are good, I have two (2) Mares regulators, a Mares BC, Mares masks, etc. But, you need to find a dive shop that services Mares regulators before you purchase. Through the years, I have found that not many dive shops service Mares products, and the ones that do sometimes don't do it well. I have a Mares Proton 42 regulator that I sent to a dive shop for service and when it came back the MV Octopus free flows. The problem is that I live in Nassau and the dive shop was in my home state of South Carolina. Not exactly convenient to return to have the problem fixed.
Long story short ... make sure your dive shop can service Mares before you buy.

KARLENE W Yes, I am a PADI instructor and the MV octopus is my favorite octopus that I use with my students because it can be used from either side. Typically most octopuses are attached with a snorkel keeper, but I use the included mouth gaurd as the attachment because it protects that octopus as well as making a great attaching mechanism. I just attach the mouth gaurd with a nylon zip tie to an appropriate BC ring

JEFFREY B I have it on a cressi reg so i cant answer your question but i can recommend it as a good octo. Ive had it for about 25 dives. Used it once during a freeflow issue. worked great while i fixed the cressi. Good price and travels well.

ROBERT T This should work with any first stage, including a Scubapro MK25.
ARYAN A I don't see why not. An octopus should fit on any first stage as long as it is a standard first stage. Brand mixing is never a problem in this case...
MICHAEL B I use my MV with an unbalanced OMS first stage on a pony bottle back up,and have tested it at 110 feet with no problems.This is my experience with this product, and I must say,I really do like the compact shape of the reg as it has a natural tendency to lay flat on my B.C.However, nobody will tell you it is O.K. to use these products together due to liability issues. I have never had any problems with my combo.

KARLENE W I have used several of these alternate air sources and have found them to be very functional and I really like the swivel that allows it to be used in any direction. I have them attached to three different brands of regulators and have experience no problems

MICHAEL G Hey Frederic, my answer to you is "no" this reg will not perform in the extreme conditions of ice diving, I bought it strictly as a back-up reg (alternate) and for tropical type diving to which it works really very well. Mares makes a couple of models for ice diving try looking into them... good luck hope this answers your question.
JANICE H I purchased this octopus back in 2007 but I am not an ice diver, so I'm afraid I can't answer that question for you! (I'm a big wuss and think anything less than 76 degrees is too cold for me! ) Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
MIKE G I bought this octopus for my daughter, and she has only used it in warm Caribbean waters. It has a very low profile, and it breathes very easily. According to the literature, I believe it is rated for ice diving.
