Questions about this item:
Shopper Is the stated size of approx 24 inches from the tip of the fin to the normally positioned heel strap? I am trying to figure out if these fit in a carry on luggage.
JANEAN F Hi, I own these fins and love them. I measured them from the the bottom foot platform to the tip of the fin and they are 24 1/2" long. They may fit in your carry on luggage if they could go corner to corner, and they are flexable, but not sure you would have room for much else.
SHARON B It would fit in a large carry on or back pack.
BILL L The fins are too long for ordinary carryon luggage. I have seen people carrying on their fins in snorkel gear bags on a number of flights.
Shopper I just bought a pair of these in an XL. My shoe size is a 12 us. With 5 mm neosport sock, and my foot in the fin resting on the floor I can fit a finger between the top of my foot and the upper wall of the foot cup. That seems a little loose. Also, when I tighten the straps so that they're snug, I feel like my toes are being jammed into the front of the foot cup. Any tips on getting a better fit?
STEPHEN S These fins are not meant to be worn with neoprene socks. If you tried a pair of dive booties (either hard or soft sole), it should fix the space issue.
LYMAN P I always wear dive boots. They make all fins feel more comfortable.
JAMES G I have the same size foot and the same fins.
XL have a very big foot pocket...and wearing just a sock, there would be a lot of room on the sides.
Because this fin has a very stiff foot pocket, if you pull the straps too tight, they will end up crushing your toes.
So, what to do...well if you want to wear socks, get 7mm ones, and don't tighten the fins straps too tight .
However, I would suggest you get a nice par of heavy dive boots..the ones that have a sort of jogging shoe sole work great. This fills up the width, prevents your toes from getting crushed and makes these fins really comfy.
Note: I have springs straps on mine and love them.
earl w these fins should be used with bootie..not socks. you can try a different bootie(like pinnicle or bare) something with a med. to hard sole. I wear a regular fin size with a size 10 foot and they fit really good. sounds like you got the right size fin to me.
DONALD R An obvious answere would be to try the next smaller size. Without the 5mm sock, it might just fit.
Kent K Hello,
My wife owns this pair and has no trouble with the sizing, she does wear a full boot hard soled instead of a sock, takes up much more room than a sock, I do believe they are made to be worn with a boot.
Hope this helps.
Regards, Kent
JIM W use a boot, not a sock. It will be more comfortable while diving as well as around the boat or shore.
Shopper I wear a size 12 shoe with a 5.5 mm boot and 2 mm in warm water. what size fins should I get?
STEPHEN S I am size 13 and wear 5mm boots all year and wear XL fins.
earl w sorry I meant xlarge.
earl w With a size 12 i would go with the large.you can always exchange it. I am a 10 and the regular fits with a neosport 3mm boot. Hope this helps
JIM W I wear the same stuff. Order a 12 it will be just finefine
BOB W I wear a size 11 shoe and use either 1mm booties or 3.5mm hard sole boot. I ordered XL fins and they fit comfortably and perform beautifully.
CODY G With a 3mm boot and a thicker tennis shoe style sole, I used an XL, but that might be a little large for the 2mm... The XL is the way to go for you, will probably be ok for the 2mm as well, but will be on the looser side
JOE M Hello James,
I bought the XL fins and I wear a size 11 shoe. The fins are plenty big(actually run a little large) so I would recommend the XL. They should be perfect.
KEVIN H You are going to need the xl. I am in the same size as you. Excellent fins had them for years and still my favorite first choose
JAMES G xl.. I wear the same size shoe. However, I think you will find the 2mm to be a bit loose. I only wear mine with a thicker boot.
This is a very stiff fin (for a split fin)..does a frog kick better than any fin I have (including tech fins).. and an even more stiff foot pocket.
Even in warm water, I wear a thicker boot, or one with a thicker sole, just to soften it.
If you were just wearing the thinner boot, think you could use the smaller size.
JOSHUA T i'm a size 12 and wear a similar boot. I have a 13 in this same fin
Shopper What is the weight of these fins?
LeisurePro S I have a weight of 2.75 pounds/fin.
Shopper How long are the mares raptor fins?
LeisurePro S The fins are approx. 24 inches long.
Shopper I wear a women's 9 and will be wearing 7 mm boots. Which size would I wear?
LeisurePro S I would recommend a small.
Shopper Hello, Just purchased Raptor fins, regular size for myself a size US 10/10.5. The underside of the foot compartment opening sits approximately one inch in from the rear of my sole. I'm a little worried about poor leverage, is this OK or have I gone for the wrong size? Narrow feet complicate fitting. Thanks.
LeisurePro S Nope. That sounds about right. Most open heelede fins sit a little short of the back of the foot. As long as the foot pocket is snug around the top of your foot and in front of your foot and you can pull the straps tight around the back of your ankle, you have the right size! It should feel just like an extension of your foot. Don't worry about leverage, the fin will feel much more natural in the water.
Shopper Hi just bought mares raptor fins regular, have mares boots size 7 normal shoe size is 8 have i chosen the correct fin and boots to be a fairly comfortable fit for my shoe size.
Shopper Sizing question on the Mares Raptor: I wear a womens us size 7 - will the small fin work for me?
Shopper Hi , I wear a 9.5 shoes and 8 for my boots what size i need? regular or x-l thanks for your help
Shopper I wear an 11d shoe. Is that a Regular or Xlarge in the Mares Raptor?
LeisurePro S Since you have a very wide shoe I would round the size up, go with the X-large

Whats in the box:Pair of Fins The Raptor uses an advanced design and combination of materials to create the highest performance Split Fin in its class. The Raptor's design including the Whale Tail foot pocket for maximum energy transfer, delivers the maximum thrust and efficiency in the Split Fin category. Ergonomically designed foot pocket delivers maximum power and evenly distributes pressure over the foot to minimize fatigue. Interior, features internal ribbing that improves fit, eliminate foot suction, and prevent foot pocket flexing; this transmits more power to the blade. Unlike traditional styles that separate materials at the foot pocket resulting in a break in power transmission, a continuum of materials from the blade ensures seamless transmission of power through the entire kick cycle. The ABS Plus Buckles (Adjustable Binding System) a unique and patented design, it only takes one quick movement to easily open or close the buckle, even when wearing thick neoprene gloves. The double button release prevents the buckle from accidentally opening, making them the most user-friendly system on the market. Fin comes in three sizes and colors; overall fin length is 23.2" to 24.8" (59 to 63 cm) and weights 4.2 lbs to 5.6 lbs (1.92 kg to 2.54 kg). Fins come with a 24 month limited warranty.
