Shopper I have a old mares wetsuit number 6, with size is correct for me X ou XL ? Im 5,8 and 215 pounds (i know, im overweight..kk)
JARED J I'm 6'2" and ~200 and XL fits me pretty perfect. I think at 5'8" it will be too long. I think your extra 15 pound will be fine in a L, but you don't want the ends of the arms and legs to run too long as you would lose the benefit of the sealing material at the ends that needs to fit tight to the skin.
Shopper I'm planing to do cave diving in Yucatan, will the Flexa 5-4-3mm will be good for the water temparature (70-78 F) or should i get the Flexa 8-6-5
I'm 6'1'' and 190 pounds, which size will be better? i'm guessing Large since most of my previous wetsuits, but also some of them were XL like some Akona models.
JARED J I've only been diving with this suit in the Red Sea around Sharm el Sheikh where water temps have averaged around 80-85 degrees lately. I have been comfortable, slightly warm. Very warm if the suit is on before i'm in the water. But no complaints. Cant speak for 70 degrees.
As for size, I was in the same boat as you. At first thought I woudl get a large, but I got an XL based on the recommended size chart and it fits perfect. I'm 6'2" and 198 pounds, athletic build. Its nice and snug on my shoulders (size 42 suit jacket if that helps, 34 waist if that info helps). I would recommend an XL based on your size.
I dive pretty regularly with friends who work year round at professional dive centers and all i've received are compliments and jealous looks from other divers. The suit works good, looks good. Feels high quality.
GREG H It doesn't sound like you have a lot of body fat, as my stats are just about the same and I'm typically between 7% and 10%. I've only used my 5-4-3 in Hawaii, during December / January... but the Yucatan and Hawaii are pretty close in latitude. With the water being around 75?-78?F at depth, I was SO happy to have this suit! Only when approaching 100 ft did I begin feeling a few chills... pretty much only in the knees and elbows, however. I hate when fat divers recommend 3mm shorties for high 70s to low 80s waters hahaha. That crap doesn't work for me! I can't speak for low 70s... but if I knew the water was that cold, I'd get the 8-6-5 in a heartbeat.

GREG H The thickness tapers from 5mm to 3mm beginning the least moving body parts (chest & back). The thickets parts will be around the torso, thinning to 4mm for the upper arms and legs, and finally 3mm as you near the wrists and ankles. ...that's how a Mares sales rep explained it to me (roughly)

I believe the 5mm is at the core (chest), 4mm is from the core to the mid limb / forearm/calf area, and 3mm on the rest.
From an usage perspective, I have owned this suit for over one year. I am still happy with the suit. It does a superior job keeping me warm in the appropriate water temperature ranges. It is relatively easy to put on and take off and is very comfortable in comparison to an average wet suit.
JAMES H The suit is thickest in the torso and gets thinner as you get out towards the wrists/feet. I don't notice any difference in warmth in different areas of the suit, and I dive in fairly cold water here in Kentucky. Hope that helps.
