I bought these after having to hike a 1/4 a mile to the dive site in full gear. I like having something more solid under my foot and the arch support they afford makes them more comfortable for me. I wear a shoe size 11 and bought these as 10s from the comments people made on them. Good thing. They could be just a skosh longer but I think the 11s would have been way too big in volume. Only dived them 5 times since the purchase so I won't know about durability for a bit but they appear to be quality made and they were an excellent price.

I bought these mail order without trying them on, and wish I had. They're very well-constructed with a thick outsole and a surprising amount of foot support. The heel cup really makes your foot feel more secure. They almost feel like hiking boots, these would be perfect for walking across lava fields in Hawaii.

However, because of their rugged construction and thick sole, they don't fit into my Apollo Biofins. Unfortunately I have to send them back. The sizing is very large - I wear a size 12 shoe, ordered an 11, and I'm swimming in them. A 10 would probably do it, but a 9 wouldn't be out of the question. A little velcro patch to keep the zipper up would also be nice, but I haven't used these in the water so don't know if that's really an issue. They're also quite heavy (~ twice the weight of a thinner-soled boot), something to consider with the new weight restrictions on airlines.

A great rugged boot, but oversized, heavy, and too large to fit in the toe box of my fins.

Comments about Mares Trilastic 5mm Dive Boots:

These boots lasted me about 2 years and just over 100 dives. EVentually wore out the backs of the boot by pulling them on and off twice a week. They run a full size too big. I wear a men's 7 and I ordered a 6, it fits perfect. Not great for cold water diving, I wore them almost brand new to California and my feet were FREEZING! But they were great for warm water diving, especially for deeper dives and held up great during our "Caribbean Winter" when we bust out the 3-5mm wetsuits, but I would not recommend them for anything colder than 70 degrees. The boots started to discolor after about 30 dives, and the whites on the soles turned a yellowish color, which never really concerned me. They are good boots that I wore from beginner through dive master. I would recommend them for recreational diving in warm/ semi warm water.

Love these boots. They are sturdy and supportive. I know that they will stand up to the hard coral beaches and rocky entry points for shore diving.

Comments about Mares Trilastic 5mm Dive Boots:

I tried Sea Soft boots, but they were just too wide for my Apollo split fins...too wide for my 81/2 B foot also and a pain to get on and off with the little velcro strap etc. These boots fit much better(Men's size 7), though still a bit wide. Well made, easy on, good stretch. One thing I will say, I really love the hard sole on dive boots. So great for shore diving, and, if you have trouble with your ankles getting sore when diving, try the hard sole. It makes a huge difference for me with my Apollos.

Comments about Mares Trilastic 5mm Dive Boots:

Boot is solid with a thick sole for doing beach entries over rocks etc.. The sizing is rather large. I ordered a full size down from my street shoe and could go another half size probably. I will end up wearing lava core socks underneath. The only issue I have is they fit very tight in the Apollo Bio Fin and don't really sit all the way in. Just a bit of a strap adjustment though. This boot has very good support over rough beach entries and fits under my Aqua Lock nicely
