I use to deploy a surface marker at the end of drift diving.

There are no switches, only a knob. The knob is big and yellow and easy to find and operate with bulky gloves. Very minimalistic design so doesn't snag (as much) on other gear, and there are very little moving parts (compared to other reels).

The chassis of the reel is wide enough so you can see between the locking bolt and the line holder. This is nice because unlike other reels that have switches, you don't find yourself guessing if its in the locked or open position. You can clearly see if the knob is engaged and by how much.

There is no tension feature. But when using it as a drift reel, Tensioners just cause more problems than they are worth. I prefer not to have that option. It won't accidentally slip into tension when my SMB is shooting to the surface.

After 08 years as a professional in the dive industry, I finally found a reel that keeps up with the day by day pressure. Is the only reel that is still working in perfect conditions after 03 years of almost every day use. Any other reel that I've tried, either broke, fell apart and/or became rusty.
For me is a very important tool because of our drift dives. That's how my boat captain knows where we are.
