This light survived 18 dives in 6 days and 18:46hrs underwater. The light was repeatedly bumped, banged and dropped. I liked everything about it except that the beam was very focused and did not "fill up" space like other incandescent lights that I have used in the past. A big plus is that I used only one set of (3) three AA batteries for the whole trip. Overall, I like this light.

I bought two IFL 550's and two Seasoft Seaguns in 2012 for our family to use and they had all been performing flawlessly.

In January of 2013 we took a one week trip to Bonaire and one of the 550's died on day 3 during a night dive at a depth of about 23 meters - the salt water had flooded the bulb compartment and one battery exploded. The other 550 took the weeklong abuse from that island's iron shore with no issues and performed exceptionaly well, as did both Seaguns (enduring a minimum for the week of 21 shore dives plus some snorkeling for each of the remaining torches).

I am giving a three rating by averaging the performances from the two 550s (a 1 for the flooded torch and a 5 for the one that worked flawlessly).

I really do like the 550, however I feel there are some quality issues (how did water enter through the bulb compartment?) that must be resolved before I can recommend this torch.

Just used this light diving during the day in Cozumel. We did several swim throughs where it performed perfectly. I didn't use it at night.

Comments about Tovatec by Intova IFL 550 220 Lumens Torch:

This light is slightly larger than the Tovatec Compact with 130 lumens and costs $5.00 more, but I think it is well worth the extra 5 bucks. It is noticably brighter than the Compact. I see that the product information shows a longer battery life with the 130 lumens but batteries are cheap and I don't mind replacing them often. Great light for the money!

Comments about Tovatec by Intova IFL 550 220 Lumens Torch:

This is a very solid dive light that puts out a tremendous amount of lumens for the costs. I purchased this to replace a much smaller Scubapro light that cost twice as much.
