Questions about this item:
Shopper is the dive computer easy to use and read?
REBECCA A It is both easy to use and read. The display is large and clear. With only one button it is easy to scroll through different displays even with 5mm gloves on. Initial setup is easy to follow as well.
REBECCA A It is both easy to read and easy to use. The display is large and simple. With only one button you can scroll through screens easily even with 5mm gloves on. I recently replaced the battery and had to reset the time/date and that was easy to figure out too.
JASON F I've had it two years now and dive weekly in the summer and I find it easy to use and read. I'd recommend it
Nils J sorry one more thing! Does this computer distinguish between salt and freshwater mode?
Nils J Thanks so much everyone. As a result of good features, price and the many insightful reviews, we have purchased 2 of these units. One for me and one for my dad. Thanks
MITCHELL D it doesnt give any indication of salt or fresh water
BECKY F I don't believe it does. I found a pdf copy of the manual online if you want to double check me. Just google "genesis resource pro manual" and it was the second or third result on the list.
Nils J Does this computer tell you when its safe to fly again?
ANTHONY Y no if does not tell you when you are safe to fly. but it does tell you when its ok to dive again. flying you should wait until the next day. thats basic knowledge.
Nils J as long as it calculates bottom time in accordance with the remaining nitrogen in your blood thats the major function I was wondering about...
MARY ANN H The version I bought in 2007 does tell inform you when you can fly again. It seems to be less conservative than my friend's computer (by about 2 hours).
MICHAEL B yes, it has a 24 hour countdown
Nils J Can any one tell me the difference between the React Pro ($330.00) computer and the Resource Pro ($290.00). They seem to be the same function wise...? Thanks!
Bill P The React Pro is also downloadable to a PC and has an audible alarm while the Resource pro does not have these 2 options
Nils J If you went past your No Deco Limit on a dive would this computer automatically work out your next deco stop and for how long you have to stay there?
LYMAN P It does an excellent job of recomputing when it is not leaking...
CHARLES H Don't know the answer since I never exceed no deco limits when diving. I use the computer for recreational diving only and it is the second Resource Pro that I have owned.
STEPHEN D The computer would go into deco mode. How deep and how long your decon stop would be would depend on your max depth and how long you exceeded the no-deco limit.
STEVE S I had a previous model before I purchased this one and the firmware on both was pretty similar. I have not run either into deco, but the manual clearly outlines what will happen. It will display the ceiling and the the decompression time at that stop. In addition it displays the total time to surface (including ascent time and any other necessary stops.
I like this computer because of its easy to understand layout of the relevant dive information. It is a good, basic, air computer. If you think you might get a nitrox cert in the future, the nitrox model is worth a look.
HARRY A Yes it will go into deco mode and give you depth ceiling and stop times till you are out of deco.
SCOTT L I have the Genesis Resource Pro which i really like. That model which i believe is same or about the same, will calculate deco stops down to 60ft.Unless you plan on doing extreme deco diving, it should be fine.
Nils J Just to confirm, this computer works with both air and nitrox. Correct?
Nils J are you sure the "resource pro" has nitrox mode, and that you guys aren't mixing it up with the "React Pro"? Just making sure you know..?
Nils J oops, nevermind, I saw it does say 40 ft. my bad... One thing I wanted to just confirm is that this computer has a surface mode, meaning it tracks residual nitrogen time, etc if you plan on doing repetitive dives...correct?
Nils J oh that is a little more reassuring!, because It would be unfortunate to have to get a new computer just because you (say for example) want to take the enriched air nitrox course(: In the description it states deco stops to 60 ft. Thanks for the kind advice!
SCOTT L My Genesis Resource Pro does not do nitrox.
Nils J Oh, that's a surprise. Because under the features category it says that this will work with nitrox...?
SCOTT L My Genesis Resource Pro is about 3 years old it will not do nitrox. The react models did. I just checked and the newer Resource Pro do seem to do nitrox.on a side note the deco stops are now limited to 40 ft but that would only effect an extreme deep diver.
Nils J Thanks for all the good advice! This certainly looks like a good choice for a beginner computer, one I might take(:
STEVE C That is correct, you can choose which setting you want to use.
JAMIE B Yes this unit can be set for air or nitrox mode.
JAMES M Yes.....any partial pressure from 21 to 50 on nitrox side....used 9 dives so far no complaints except my own learning curve...probes for H20 mode must be blown off (just with breath) to break the circuit so it will shut off, out of water...backlit dial does not come on until you are underwater, weird at night using a flashlight to set up your computer
ALEJANDRO H Yes, this computer can be used with Nitrox as well by just changing one of the settings before the dive.
RUSSELL B I have 3 Resource Pros. I thought the Air/Nitrox version was the React Pro.
SEAN B Yes, it works with both air and nitrox, the screen is very easy to read and once you get use to the order of the menu it is very easy to navigate and turn the nitrox on and off.
MICHAEL K Yes it works with both.
Shopper Does it come with a battery? Is the compass with it or do you have to buy it separately?
MITCHELL D y es it does come with the battery . as well this console set comes with it. This computer does all it says it does . a little time to set up . & it stays on for quit a long time once out of the water .kinda hard to replace battery
GREGORY S yeYes, it has a battery and yes, the compass does come with it.
Nils J Thanks! that answers my question(:
MATTHEW C The compass is part of it, As for the battery it does come with one, Im not sure if it is user serviceable or not, but I have never had to change it. Very simple gauge, I am very satisfied with it.
BECKY F It doesn't come with a battery, but you can get a spare pretty easily at Radio Shack or some place similar. The compass does come with it.
Bill P All dive computers we sell come with a battery
BECKY F Oops. It does come with a battery. I misunderstood. I thought you figured it came with one and meant a spare battery which it doesn't come with.
RUSSELL B Yes, it comes with a battery installed and it is user replaceable which is a great feature. This version also comes with the compass as shown, the three devices stacked up from pressure gauge, then computer, then compass, the positioning is ideal. All three can easily be removed for cleaning and maintenance. We have 3 of these units, and have been using the older two for about 8 years. We've had to replace about 4 batteries and 1 or 2 pressure gauge o-rings. Simple and intuitive displays, a great setup for us.
SEAN B yes mine arrived with a battery but i did get a back up...
SCOTT C it is a complete unit Battery and Compass included, My battery was drained when I got it but I sent it back and had a new one within 10 days, have used it for 2 years and still going strong.
LAWRENCE S I'd like to help, but I honestly don't remember whether it comes with the battery or not or whether I bought the compass separately. My purchase was nearly four years ago!
REBECCA A the battery is already installed and so is the compass.
Shopper What is the cost of a replacement battery?
LeisurePro S Here is the replacement battey for this model.
Shopper was wondering if it was downloadable to PC
Shopper The computer has a USB located on it, what is that used for?
LeisurePro S It does not have a USB
Shopper Can you tell me if the Genesis resource pro has a PC download kit to download dives to PC.
