Questions about this item:
Shopper i'm an old football lineman and while some of the weight has moved to my gut most of the biggest sizes don't quite make it. Does this manufacturer or another that this site carries get closer to what I guess should be a 4 or 5 XLT? I say tall because i'm a long body not long leg guy. 6'4" 290lbs, 52 chest, 42 waist, 19-20 neck. happy to see you have size 14 shoes though! i don't mind diving warm water all the time but it would be nice to go in cold off the coast of California.
JEFF C I`m in snow melt for at least six hours a day. I haven`t ever gotten cold. In fact I have to un zip my suit to let the hot water out and the cold water in.
Miyuki S Some Pinnacles and Hendersons come in larger sizes. For example the Pinnacle Cruiser 7 7mm Men's Jumpsuit SKU: PINC77M and the Henderson Thermoprene 7mm Men's Jumpsuit (Back Zip) SKU: HNDTJ7M. :)
Shopper if in the size chart, i fall under SM, what size should i order?
EBEN A I think the size chart is accurate. The only problem with this suit (for me) is claustrophobia... It's too thick and stiff. I almost had a panic attack when I got it on.
Shopper hi, i'm a new diver building a starter kit. i am looking for cold water dives but also dives during holidays in the carabean. i see this package comes with the jacket and johns. what is the thickness of each? if i unerstand, it's 5 each so the core of my body will have 10; right?
ZACHARIAH S Its 7 each, 14 around the core. I was out early this year in 50 deg water at about 25 ft. It was pretty warm in there.
SHERRILL H This a very warm dive suit. I dive in Canada where the underwater temp is around 10C and was comfortable. You double the thickness where the suits overlap. I think it's too thick for warm water dives.
KATHY B The suit is 7ml. I dive in the low 50 degree & I am comfortable. A little chilled. The 7 ml is too hot for 80 degree tropical water. I use a 3ml for protection or I prefer I dive skin in 80 degree water. Hope this helps!
James O The "suit" I received is 7mm for both pieces. It's definitely thick. I have not been in the water with both pieces yet. I really like the front zip jacket.
CASEY J I think it's 7 mil. ea. and will be 14 mil. over your torso. i've dived with on in 42 degree water and it's cold at the first but warms up.
BENJAMIN R No, the jacket and farmer john are both 7mm, so you have 14 total on your core. The gloves and boots are 5 and the hood is 6.5. I purchased the package this spring and dived here in Maine and found the package plenty warm for our 43 degree water. I also went to Hawaii this spring and used only the jacket and boots and found that to be pretty comfortable as well. It was a little warm at first, but comfortable at depth. The water temp there was 73 degrees.
DARLENE M Hi Brad here,
I bought the same package. It looks like you are getting 7mm each like mine. Used together your core will have 14mm of warmth. I use it in a 60-65 degree spring fed pond and its great. I have used just the jacket on warmer days, and sometimes take my gloves and hood off after awhile. But that's why I got it because I like versatility. Its also very stretchy and easy to get on and off. It's of very good quality too for the price!
Happy diving Brad
DARLENE M Hi Brad here, I bought the men's cold water package each piece is 7mm thick your total core would be 14mm. I use it in a 60-65 degree spring fed pond and it's great! I have used the jacket alone on warmer days. I like the versatility. Good luck, Brad
MICHAEL W That's right. Or the pieces can be worn seperately.
JAMES M Both the jacket and john are 7mil. The gloves and the boots are 5mil. I believe that the core of your body will have 14mil. I recently used this suit do dive in sub-50 degree water and was perfectly comfortable. I have used the jacket only in warm water and didn't feel too hot. Overall, I would say that this would fit your needs.
BRANT H The top and bottom are each 7mm. They keep me warm in 48 F degree water on 3 40 minute dives I did in one day. The thick wetsuit really restricts your movements! The gloves are 5 mm which are as thick as you want to go and still be able to use your fingers.
In the summer you will need a much thinner suit (2 or 3 nn) or a rash guard in the 80F degree water of the Caribian. Any combination of this cold water suit is ill suited for the Caribian.
Have fun and be safe
Bruntson
THOMAS I This is a 7mm suit. Each part is 7mm so if you have both on, 14 mm where they overlap.
Joel S No, 7 and 7 for 14 over your core(!) Ice diving with warm water poured into your suit beforehand is a possibility with this package!
Shopper Should I buy the jacket a size larger to fit over the johns? I am 5 foot 6.5 inches tall, weight 125 lbs, chest 34-35 inches, waist 29 inches. Also, what water temperature would this gear be good to? I'm fairly small and get cold easily because of it.
MATT M I would not get the jacket larger then you need, and I suspect you wear a small like my son. He tried on my medium and we could tell it was too big. Water will always seep into your suit, but if there's too much room for water your body temperature will not be able to warm the cool water fast enough and you will get cold. When I dive warmer water I sometimes dive in just the jacket so I want it to fit well. I am not sure how cold of water I can dive, but I have heard of duct taping the cuffs and ankles to slow the rate of water seepage and I think I could dive very cool water comfortably with my hood, boots, and gloves, but only if I get the right size. I highly recomend this suit, a great valur for the money.
ALEXANDR K took both john and jacket size M. john doesn;t fit tight on my back: there's some space between shoulders and butt, but wearing same size jacket over fixes the problem. size chart seems to be ok. As for me set is good down to 6-7 C. Lower temps require thicker boots and gloves
Ryan D I am new to diving
Doing a quarry dive in PA. Instructor says a 7 mm suit is needed for a May dive.
I am 6'-3" tall, weight 195lbs.
Chest is 42-44
Waist is 34"
Looking for the 2 piece suit for the best all around usage. I also have a PWC for the NJ coast
What size is needed?
Ryan D
MITCHELL H Well I'm 5' 7'' 150 lbs with a 32" waist...I got the medium jacket and medium john bottoms and they seem to fit pretty good...I've only used it a couple times, it is kind of bulky but its a two piece so I guess that can be expected..that 's about all the info I can give
BRANT H Hi Ryan, Congradulations on becoming a new diver!
I recently bought the NeoSport Cold Water wetsuit a for a quarry dive with 45 degree water. Made 3 dive that day and stayed nice and warm.
For your size and weight, I would go with a XXL. One thing you want in a weight suit is for it to fit snug. If not, water will flow in and out and chill you quickly. Leisure Pro has a great exchange program if you need a different size. I really like the front zipper on the top, easy to reach and zip yourself up.
Brant
JUSTIN S This is a real nice cold water set, sounds like you need an xl size, i use mine for diving the cold rivers in Alaska my chest is a 43 and the large was a bit small especially the jacket. Hope this helps.
richard a I am 6'10" and weigh 240 lbs. What size?
DARREN R def. big lol I am 6'2" and 215 and went with the XXL it fits quite well.
DAVID H I would have to say stick with the size chart 6'10" that very tall The sizing chart was pretty accurate for me
CASEY J All I can tell you is I am 5'8" weigh 200 and I wear XL. It's not tight but I think the next size down would be.
THOMAS I I would go with the 3X
Robert G I am new to diving. So pardon if I am asking a silly questions.
I am looking for an suit that would meet my needs, off-shore in Long Island, in a quary in Pennsylvania, and vacation diving in the Carribean. Does this package meet the needs of all three diving conditions?
I am also 6'1' 220 lbs. How much weight would I need?
JOHN B Yes, over-all best choice is this package : most bang for the buck!
You need to get in the water with the suit and all rubber you're going to dive with, and add weights until the bottom of your nose is at the waterline.
Shopper OK Im a solidly built very fit 225 pounds 5'10" 50 inch chest, and 36" waist. 20 inch neck. Help on sizes??
SHERRILL H I bought the package with 2X Jacket and Johns. 6'1' - 220 lbs, 38" waist, 48' chest. The suit is plenty big, comfortable, easy on and off. Good stretch with the material.
MICHAEL W I got my XL for Christmas and have tried it on, but not used it in the water yet.
225 5'10' 46 chest and 18 neck and I felt no constrains of discomfort with the XL (even the hood fit rather nicely and I was concerned about that as I have a large head/neck and feared it would be tight, but no problem) so I would guess that you would be OK.
CASEY J I am 5'8" stocky and weigh 200 pounds. The XL fits me easily. It's not real tight and I think the next size down would be pretty snug on me.
BRAD B I'm 5'9" 180 also fit with 44" chest 33" waist and the large was a bit loose and the medium fits pretty good. the sizes seem to run a bit bigger than other suits that I have used. I normally wear a size large 7mm suit.
MITCHELL H Well I'm 155 pounds, 5' 7" with 37 inch chest and 32 inch waist and I got the medium sizes...fits good for me......that's really all the help i can give sorry
STEPHEN H If you're as fit as you say, then a large might be good. I am 6'3" and a fit 200, and the space around my arms above the elbow is pretty tight as-is, but I also tried on the XL and it was huge.
MICHAEL L Ask a sales person. Mine fits very well.
DAVID H When I was commercial diving I waited roughly the same 225 pounds and I wore extra large on every thing tops and bottoms I have lost weight and them down to 170 and I'm wearing a large tops and bottoms now so I would recommend that he buys extra large top and bottom's
Daniel P i would go with the XXL if i was ur size i am a little bigger with a 38 to 39 inch waist and the same height as you. I went with the XXXL. it is a lot of rubber over the body. have not had a chance to dive with it yet but tried it on and it was not bad feeling. Fit good
Shopper Iam planning to use this diving in 50 F water. Do you put both the farmer John on and then the step in. [or vice versa]{ie. do you put both on?] If so, do I need a larger size for the step in? or farmer john. Cam S
JOHN B Of course you put both on for 50 degree water, and get a 1 or 2 mm hooded vest to go on first, then the farmer John. Last, the step-in top.
SHERRILL H I used the suit in 45 Fand it was warm enough. The proper way to wear the suit is FarmerJohns first then Jacket. Size seemed plenty large so no need to over size. Use the chart to reference your measurements.
STEPHEN C That is a novice question...Of course the FJ goes on first, then the Jacket, which is sized to go over the johns. Seriously, if you are diving in 58 degree water., and havea high tolerance for cold water you MIGHT be OK, however, sit time and redressing for the 2nd dive, are going to be uncomfortable. If you are talking about 50 degree water with colder thermoclines, I suggest you take a dry suit class and do the dry suit. Your protective suit will only do so much. If you begin to get hypothermic in the water, and you have to deal with safety stops, swimming back, getting to the beach, or back on the boat, getting your gear off, getting dry and warming up, you could be in trouble very quickly. I would talk to some people who have done a number of dives where you plan to go, and see what gear they use for the conditions. Remember, you will use more air in cold water, especially if you are uncomfortable. Be careful!
Daniel P Correct farmer john then step in but for 50 degrees I would use a one piece 5mm package. This package u will be using a lot of weights. It is a very thick suit with the jacket and the suit on together. But then again I am warm natured. But order the same size fo
Joel S Farmer john goes on, then step in. Do not change the size unless you are a TIGHT fit in your current size. They are supposed to fit snugly to trap water (heat) in.
Mark H I am 165lb. and 6'. What size for the Neo Sport Men's Step-in 7mm Jacket, and what size for the Neo Sport Men's 7mm Neoprene John? Thanks
PATRICK W I'd go with the large. Or because of your height. XL for the john, and Large for the jacket.
ROBERT B You are right in between sizes. The LG may be a little tight and the XL may be a little loose. If you only plan on using this suit a couple of times I would go with the LG - if not look into getting a higher quality suit, it will improve your dive. This suit restricts your range of motion and is built for cost savings and not comfort. This suit did last me a while, but I couldn't wait to replace it.
MICHAEL G You will probably want the large, but your arm length may require you to up to an XL. I am 6'3" 230 lbs and the XXL is loose fitting on me. The issue I have with the XL size is arm length, so I usually have to up size to a 2X.
Hope that helps
ANDERSON C I would suggest a medium. I am 6ft and 250. I have the extra large and its a little loose. Good versitle wetsuit.
Shopper I am 185lb. and 6' What size for the Neo Sport Men's Step-in 7mm Jacket, and what size for the Neo Sport Men's 7mm Neoprene John. Thanks GP
LeisurePro S I would go with an XL in both the farmer john and jacket.
Shopper My measurements for a wetsuit fall in-between getting a medium or a large. Would you recommend getting the medium? I am: Chest: 40 Waist: 34 Weight: 170 Height: 5' 10.5" Thanks, Tim
