SUSAN M No, it is not a back pack. However, if you have a strap from say a carry on or duffle bag you could attach it and have a backpack! This bag is awesome, tough and durable. Hope this helps.

It has one adjustable strap, so if you happen to have another adjustable strap from another bag or carry on type bag you could always attach it, then you could use as a back pack. It is a very tough and durable bag. Hope this helps.
