Shopper Can a elbow or ball fitting be put on this reg as i find it a more comfortable angle?
HOWARD F The hose that comes with it is too short in my opinion. I decided to buy a longer hose that is braided and much more flexible. I haven't tried your fittings. Good luck.

Shopper can i use nitrox with this regulator?
KEITH P The Mares manual that comes with the Rover 2 states that it is compatible with Nitrox with an oxygen content "not greater than 40%". This is "FOR NON-EUROPEAN COUNTRIES ONLY"
For European Countries it states to "use only with clean, compressed atmospheric air"; "Do not use with any other gas or enriched air".
LANEY S I am not positive but if you look at the Mares site under Technologies and regulators, it says all current regulators are compatible up to 40% oxygen.
I have used it with Nitrox.
Shopper What temperature is this Reg good for? I usually dive in cold water around 40-50 deg.
TOM H I don't have the technical specs on this regulator. Mares probably has a web site and an email address. I haven't used this regulator in this temperature range.
NANCY M My regulator works perfectly where I dive in the Florida Keys. Water temperatures can get in the high 80's sometimes 90's. Come on down & dive with us.
WILLIAM R I use this reg on a pony bottle as a back-up in North Carolina, in 78 degree h2o and it works great. There's a little buzz noise on the exhale, but not a big deal. This reg is a great buy, built like a tank - very simple construction.
DARRELENE S I purchased this regulator to use in recreational warm water diving at no deeper than 100' and it worked great no problems at all, however if you are going to be using it in cold water you will want to make sure the piston on the first stage is sealed as you don't want to take a chance on water getting into the regulator and then freezing it up. I am not sure if this regulator has a sealed first stage or not, however one of the sales reps should be able to answer that question for you. As well this regulator is non balanced, for the depth I dive in it works great however if you plan on diving deeper than 120' you probably want to look at a balanced regulator that allows for more consistent air flow throughout the dive and is not affected by the amount of air in your tank. I am very happy with this purchase and it is a great regulator for the warm water recreational dives that I do but if you are diving in cold water I would suggest that you find out if the first stage is sealed or unsealed before making a purchase. SEVEN K I usually dive around 45~60 deg. Its good for me. compare with my octopus(mares proton), almost same quality. i can inhale softly. I think it's low-priced, but quality is good.
DEAN C This is 10000000000000% entry level, warm water reg.Please try the Mares Abyss, for advance cold water diving.
CHRIS A We haven't take any dives with it in anything quite that cold. We dove in 60's and 70's and it preformed quite well. We were really impressed with them, especially for such a great price.

The new R2 first stage is the evolution of the piston regulator. A sandblasted finish to increase scratch resistance. The protection cover is designed to allow the installation of an RFID chip for rental use managed by dedicated PC software, plus easy and reduced maintenance for INT and DIN version. The Rover 2 has a simple non-balanced piston first stage design that is great for the entry level diver or to be used in rental programs. The exclusive MARES DFC system featured minimizes the intermediate pressure drop which occurs in all regulators during the inhalation phase. This pressure drop is greater when higher airflow is demanded of the regulator. The DFC system substantially reduces breathing effort and inhalation resistance, especially during deep dives and under high air flow conditions. The second stage Vortex Assist Design (V.A.D.) system: all Mares second stages offer the unique patented VAD system. The air bypass tube conveys air to the mouthpiece creating a swirling vortex with a low pressure area in the center this keeps the diaphragm down during inhalation, giving very sensitive and easy breathing at all depths. Mares Rover second stage incorporates the Fluid Dynamic Deflector, developed after in-depth studies and tests of fluid dynamics, is engineered to receive and properly direct the airflow from the bypas s tube to the mouthpiece. Combined with the VAD system it delivers very natural and effortless breathing. The second stage cover features the new "mesh-grid" system for water inflow and outflow, which provides a further performance improvement. Furthermore, the compact and ergonomic exhaust tee ensures superior hydrodynamic performance and reduced exhalation resistance. Rover 2S has a 3/8" threaded 31.5" (80 cm) hose and comes with a limited lifetime warranty.
