B JANE G Most first stages are universal so it should fit. I have a ScubaPro and it works fine. I am unsure from your question if you are looking for a primary reg or just a backup octopus. This is unbalanced so I personnally wouldn't use it as a primary reg; it is strictly used as an octopus (backup) and will not breath as smooth as a balanced second stage at depth. However, as a backup it is great and you can't ever beat Mares quality.
If you are looking for a primary second stage I would always recommend a balanced reg. Yes they cost more but are worth the money.
DOYLE D The Mares Prestige is inexpensive and reliable. I have not have any issues with the reg. Connecting to your first stage should not be a problem. It ought to screw right in.
GARY H Any second stage will work with your first stage. The LP ports are the same threading and diameter regardless of manufacturer. It's how you can buy after market hoses such as miflex. The intermediate pressure from your first stage should also be a relative constant compared to other first stages. Hope this helps.

LeisurePro S 50 F is the generally cut off for "cold water". 50F and above is fine for this octo.

LeisurePro S This particular octo is not great in cold water. Check out mares' Ice Extreme or Abyss octos both of which are great in cold water and at depth.

Whats in the box:Second Stage Octopus with LP Hose The Prestige is a mid-size octopus with a stylish design, strengthened by technology to give steady, natural and effortless breathing. All Mares second stages are a reliable downstream valve design and offer the unique patented Vortex Assisted Design (VAD) system. The air bypass tube conveys air to the mouthpiece creating a swirling vortex with a low pressure area in the center that keeps the diaphragm down during inhalation, for very sensitive and easy breathing at all depths. The second stage cover features the new "mesh-grid" system for water inflow and outflow, which provides a further performance improvement. The patented mesh design of the second stage cover reduces the pressure of water flowing onto the regulators diaphragm and minimizes free-flow.
