Shopper What equivalent mil thickness is this suit, 3, 5, 7 ??
RENEE C Just returned from Cozumel. Wore a 3 ml first day and lavacore the next. Felt equally warm both days.
PETRUS L I would say it comes close to a 3MM.
I've only worn it in the Caribbean and it was very comfortable, easy to don & doff and quick drying.
It could probably be worn under another wetsuit in colder water.
JORDAN T Oceanic claim it is equal to a 3 mm suit. I have used it with a 3 mm suit in colder temps, and I found it to be a comfortable dive. I am yet to actually test it to it's full potential. But for the time I have used it I would recommend it.
KEITH J I found that it absorbed so much water that it was less insulating than a 3 mil.
JOE S It is probably similar to my Henderson polyolefin dive skin - I'd quess it is equiv. to a 2 mm suit. Like the polyolefin - it has no buoyancy to weight against. I love these Lavacore products. They are soft on the inside and rugged on the outside, have a lot of stretch and are not restricting like rubber suits. It has a couple of minor downsides: 1. when it is wet it is hard to peel off the body and other fabrics [ I use a lycra diveskin under it for ease of removal.] 2. it takes a long time to dry [twice as long as neoprene.] I highly recommend Lavacore products - the vest is great and so are the hood and booties- very comfortable, soft and warm.
HEATHER H I would estimate it to be about equivalent to a 2 mil. as far as warmth.

Wet or dry, hot or cold, Lavacore helps control your core temperature longer, whether worn as a standalone garment, or under your wetsuit or clothing. OUTER Lycia layer is a 6.35 oz/10.8 sq. feet (180g/sq. m) knitted nylon wrap knit Tricot with water repellant treatment to ensure fast water runoff and anti wind chill properties. INTER layer is an impermeable breathable Micro-porous high stretch Polyurethane (PU) film which is wind proof and breathable allowing perspiration to be drawn away in hot conditions. INNER Fleece layer is a 8.47 oz/10.8 sq. feet (180g/sq. m) 4 way stretch polyester fleece with elastane. It has Anti Pill treatment, as well as Anti Microbial treatment to reduce odors and eliminate bacteria. Lavacore is neutrally buoyant so you won't need to add weight to your weight system compromising your weight comfort zone. Full gusset incorporated into the underarms offer exceptional arm movement and stretch and all seams are overlapped during flat-lock sewing to ensure maximum water integrity and strength. Lavacore provides SPF 30+ sun protection and is designed and developed with Oceanic, your guarantee of quality. Men's Full Suit has a front zipper closure and is equipped with stirrups and thumb loops to prevent suit ride up. Suit comes with a 12 month limited warranty.
