How do you determine the size ?
I have no ear issues, but I would like to reduce the decibels at depth. Do these reduce the amount of sound to your ears ?

PETER S These are designed to stop or reduce water intrusion into the ear, not to block sound. As far as size, I just ordered large and they fit. I based that on the size of Doc's Proplugs I wear.
JASON Z The only true way to determine size is to go to your local scuba shop that sells them and try them on for fitting. I am 200lbs, 5'11" but I have small ear canals (earbuds usually don't stay in my ears) and I wear the medium size. It's hard to give you any advice on size.
These will muffle the noise underwater but only slightly. They are made to be able to still hear things above water while in but they will muffle noise slightly. Hope this helps your questions
BENJAMIN P Not sure what to tell you about sizing, we just rolled the dice. These were for my wife, we guessed that she would wear medium and they fit. As far as reducing noise she says that they do quite a bit. We got these because she was having issues with water getting in her ears and causing a lot of pain. They have been great for her as she cannot dive with out them. Sorry that we couldn't offer more help on the sizing.
TAMMY L Not really. For me this is what I like about them. I use them for kitesurfing and I can still hear what is going on around them.

Mauricio C How deep can you go with these plugs in the ear?
Can I go 80' feet down, the pressure at 80' will not hurt the ear?
DONALD A I have been as deep as 145 ft when diving the Blue Hole in Belize. I have noticed thou that for me the plugs work great if just diving a couple of days. I need to remove them after the 2nd day and dive without them if i am doing a lot of diving like for a week from a dive boat. But that may just be me..The thing with the plugs is you need to go slow to depth and swallow alot.
CAMILLO D They should work fine at recreational depths. They are vented so pressure should not be a problem. I have used them for a year or so and like them. I need to keep my ears dry when I dive.

Mauricio from my experience you can go as deep as you want without harm. The deepest I have gone is most likely around 100 ft with not issues
GREG P No problem! I've been down to 120 feet without any issues. I love these ear plugs. I've had zero ear problems since I started using them.
BRENDAN B I was in Cozumel in January of 2012. My deepest dive was 110 and I NEVER had a single problem equalizing. These have become a regular in my dive kit and will never again dive without them.
DANIEL B There's small holes in the ear plugs, so you can still equalize at any depth. These are designed for diving.
Shopper I'm trying to decide what to get. Why did you pick this one? I was originally recommended DocsPROPLUGS, but then came across these ones. Does anyone know if one kind is better than the other for diving?
CAMILLO D The local dive shop was out of Doc's pro plugs and my doctor had told me to keep my ear dry for a while. I was having some ear issues at the time. These keep water out while still allowing for equalization. The Doc's plugs let water in but do it slowly. That is why I prefer the JBL plugs.

PETER S They both work well for diving. I used Docs for years. When the JBLs came out, I tried them. I use them now and keep the Docs as a backup. The JBLs are lighter, less bulky, and they are more pliable. The more pliable part I especially like.
BENJAMIN P I bought these for my girlfriend because she had trouble with getting ear infections due to water in her ear, they were recommended by a local dive shop owner. She loves them, says they are comfortable and has not had any ear problems since she started using them, except for the time that we accidentally left them at home. I don't have a reason as to why we got these over another brand but can tell you that they have improved her dive comfort immensely and would recommend them.

They work great. Just make sure they are all the way in your ear or they will come out.

They are vented They have a small hole in in the part that goes in the ear canal yo make them suitable for diving/equalization. They make equalization easier. Highly recommended by many free divers
