Questions about this item:
SHAUNA L Can anyone advise me of where the trim weight pickets are on this bcd? I want to switch to a different bcd that has trim pockets that sit up higher on the tank to push my shoulders down more and make me more horizontal in the water....my current trim weights sit in the very bottom of the back of the bcd and force me to be vertical in the water. I cannot tell from the picture where these trim pockets are. Thank you
SHERRY S Yes the trim weight pockets are up by the shoulder blades. Also this is a hybrid BCD and holds you in the water better. My wife dropped 4 lbs when she switched to this BCD, she says it's very comfortable.
MILT R Hi Shauna - I bought this for my daughter, so question comes to me instead of her. I can tell you that there are (2) releasable weight pockets in front lower panels of this BCD and (2) non-releasable pockets in mid back. I think the fronts are rated at 8 pounds each and the backs, 5 pounds each. I dove multiple dives with her in Cozumel and she seemed to have no problems with horizontal under water or vertical at the surface. Milt
SEAMUS N The trim weight pockets are positioned mid-upper back close to the two tank straps. As a female diver I recommend this BCD for recreational diving. Only two things I would change about it-bigger pockets & a handle.
Debbie R Hi I am torn between this BCD -- "Genesis Sirene"and the "Cressi Travellight Ladies"? I have the Genesis BCD ladies Luna ( they dont make it any longer) it has been great - amazing excellent product. I wanted to see if the Athena is a Jacket BC and not a back inflator? Which BCD is better in your opinion?
Weight seems close for travel but the Genesis has 29# of lift and the Travelight is only 20#-- I want to make sure I float on top
JON M Speaking for my wife, who is not here at the moment, she loves the Genesis Sirene. We do not have any experience with the others you mention. She has stated that it had to have been designed by a woman, because it fits better than all the Scubapro rentals that she has worn in the past. My thought is that it appears to be well made. We have no complaints.
MILT R Hello - I bought this BCD as an X-mas gift for my daughter (away finishing her Master's degree) and she loves it. She has used it in both cold and warm water dives. I've been on several warm water dives with her and she rests quite comfortably/high on the surface. This is a new style BCD; a hybrid between vest and back inflate, so you don't get the push over forward feeling you'd get with a pure back inflate. We always travel with our own gear and her BCD packed well in her airline compliant dive gear case. I travel with a lightweight back inflate BCD and they definitely give you that push over forward feeling on the surface. It's not terrible but most certainly something you'll be forced to deal with. We wish you many safe and enjoyable dives....
SANDRA M I really don't know anything about the Cressi BCD, but I bought the Sirene in 2008 and absolutely love it. I have traveled all over with it since then and it still looks and works great. It not only works fantastically, but is also a beautiful BCD. It fits into a small carry-on bag along with my regulator and other dive equipment. That was important to me, as I do not trust the airlines with my dive toys. Good luck and enjoy!

MILT R The Medium Genesis Sirene gives 29# lift. My daughter loves it.
CHRISTOPHER B Probably around 25 lbs for a medium. The bcd isn't for tech, and it isn't a lift bag, so it really shouldn't matter.
Shopper is this back-inflated, jacket-style wrap-around inflation or a hybrid (like the Oceanic Hera) where the air bladder is located/inflated in the back and in the jacket sides?
NAUM S They describe it as a hybrid. I am not sure what the subtle differences are between jacket style and hybrid BC. To me the hybrid appears to behave similar to jacket-style. My daughter was easily floating upright on the surface in Sirene BCD ( not being pushed face down that ususally happens with back inflation). We did use small weights in the back pockets (20-30% of the total weight).

new to diving but has tried several brands of BCDs, she loves her Genesis Sirene, it is comfortable, light and allows her to feel very comfortable in the water. She would highly recommend the Genesis Sirene

ELISSA W This bc inflates in the back, the front areas only have pockets and weights. (there are also weight pockets in the back too) When I purchased this it was on sale, so the lower price and fact that it matched my wet suits sold me, but it's been a great purchase. I've used this on lots of dive trips and it fits and works great.
