Brandon D I have a Dive rite trans pac and have just purchased a Hollis wing. The wing does not line up exactly with the transpac. My question is that, is it still as comfortable when diving with the (STA). I mean it fits to the curve of my back and feels greta now. Will it still feel as stream line and snug with a (STA) ? or am i better off buying a dive rite wing... I am just more impressed with the Hollis design and quality
JOHN R Hi, not sure how to answer your question, not familar with a transpac or sta,
I purchased the diverite tank adapter to repair my Aeris standard bc, it had a plastic tank holder that broke from the weight of my LP121 steel tanks that i use, heavy tank with 1 strap was too much for the plastic. I had to drill a new hole to line up with my bc backplate , the 2 straps & stainless steel adapter work far better now. you can drill new holes for your application, but use a good titanium/nitride coated drill bit or carbide with a slow drill & oil,as stainless can work harden quickly & become very difficult to finish drilling. as for the square holes for the carrige bolts, I used a triangle fine file to turn the new round holes to square.

JOSEPH B I dive the STA with an aluminum and steel backplates (Dive Rite Trans Plates). The STA allows for a very secure attachement of the single tank to the plate with two cam bands attaching the tank to the STA and two screws to attach the STA to the plate. Don't forget the washers to allow the wing nuts to hold the STA to the plate securely.
CHARLES B The tank band slots do not line up for particular Hollis wing model, so requires an STA.
CHARLES B Take a look at the DiveRite STA. I have the older model. The bolts face towards your back. How would you attach it? The wing nuts would hit your back or facing the other direction will scratch the tank. Probably best to ask this question on Dive Rite site. Maybe their new STA will work if using a flatter nut.
I use a weighted STA with TransPac and Oxychec Mach V wing. The weighted STA has a channel which bends the TransPac back portion into the channel so the wing nuts do not stick out that far.
Sex nuts/assembly screws may not work on an STA due to small diameter of STA holes or thickness of STA/Wing/Transpac grommets.
RICHARD W Best way to tell is to try it. Now consider this: all you need is a new hole. I use a screw driver heated to red hot with a torch. Works wonders on making new holes for mounting backplates/wings/lights..... those hollis donuts (and most every wing) only have a bladder or sealed area on the periphery. put as hole where you need a hole.
