I recently purchased this item for my 5 y old. I bought size XL; she currently wears 5 and 6T and it fits her with room to spare--like a 6x. It's a nice suit and she's already worn it in 64 F water!
Sounds like you need XS or S if you're need the equivalent of 2T.

DANIEL C My child is 7 years old 50inches tall and 54 lbs, the suit is alittle bit big but it will work for a few years. My child loves this suit and is able to stay in the water alot longer without signs of core temperature drop. VERY SATISFIED
