Shopper Does this have a comfortable width? I have a high instep and relatively wide feet.

Shopper Is the Cressi Palau Open Heel fin a normal size scuba diving or is it a short snorkel fin? I'm need a scuba diving fin no a short snorkel fin. Could you tell me the length of the fin. Thanks! Mike
GEORGE L No, this is for snorkel. I use it to teach classes in pool with socks only.
ROBIN H These are regular scuba length fins. We bought them for my neice 3 years ago for snorkling so I haven't used them. They are a nice fin for the price.
If you want to splerge, I love my Atomic Aquatic Split Fins. I've had them for over 10 years with no problems and easy kicking.
SHELLY L They're scuba fin, but depends on how serious you want to use it, i'd suggest to either install a pair of spring straps if you dive frequently on vacation or more heavier ones if you think to dive deep/tech.
The XS-S is 20.5".
RANDALL M To my mind this is a snorkeling fin, not a diving fin. The nice advantage that it has as a snorkeling fin is that is is open heeled so I keep a pair as replacement fins for a class I teach as they fit different feet. For snorkeling I think they are great and are much lighter than my diving fins.

David R They're made to wear with or without a boot so they run small so you'll need the largest size with a thick 7mm boot
THOMAS D I bought the size 10 and didn't wear a boot and they fit pretty snug. Its adjustable, I'd probobly bump it up a size.

ROYAL C These fins are quite good but I prefer full foot fins, I lost my fins two times because the fastener is not good enough.
Shopper Thanks for the quick responses! I currently have a pair of full foot fins, but the sides rub on the sides of my ankles and cut the skin and rub my toes raw in the foot pocket. Was hoping that without the sides on the open heel model and wearing a pair of scuba socks that this would alleviate this problem? So you would recommend tje Large/Extra Large fins to order?

KEITH F anytime you can wear a boot with your fins your feet will be happy....just make sure you go up 1 size if you choose to wear a boot. Ascuba sock is less bulky so the normal size works well...good luck
GRAHAM S Always wear booties or socks with open foot fins or booty fins. The straps are a little flimsy but a good fin for the price.

I purchased a pair of lg / xl palau fins in 2009. I normally wear a size 11 shoe and the foot pocket of the fins is to small to wear a booty or a sock. The foot pocket is very comfortable though. I use them exclusively for snorkeling. I think the blade might be a little small for scuba use.

I bought these for my son who is 10 years old so I'm not sure on the size for an adult. He wears them with a short boot and has no problem. Wore them once with nothing and ended up with pretty sore feet.
KARL B These fins cover a range of sizes. socks work well, but we found them to wear out fast and use boots. I would order a 10 in your case.
TISHA D Great fins. I wear boots with mine. Also, one of my straps broke while diving in Bonaire so there is truth in bringing along extra accessories in case of emergency as you do not know if the local dive shop can accomodate equipment replacement. I upgraded my straps upon returning home.
BRUCE G A sock works fine with this fin. The sock comes in handy when it comes to not so friendly entrances. As far as size if you think you will be wearing the sock then a X-large if going bare foot get the next size down for a snugger fit.

md42 m I wear a size 10, usually wide, and I have the Palau in L-XL with less than an inch to spare in the foot pocket. I also have the full foot Pluma in 43-44 (8.5-9.5) that fits the same. Used both for snorkeling, but the Palau is nice for travel - adjustable for family and 2 inches shorter. I recommend a sock at most; foot pocket is comfortable with no hot spots.

I would purchase a cressi full foot fin they tend to hold up better no need to worry about strap replacent. A size 10 should be fine I always wear a thin sock or bootie 3 ml. I hope this helps

RENEE B Hmmm, I'm not sure about kid sizes. If the smallest size available is still too big, you may want to consider getting booties to help fill in the foot pocket (this has worked very well for me); the heel strap is adjustable.
I purchased this product about 2 years ago. I began to notice that these fins did not provide the power that I had expected (my dive buddy could get much farther on one kick than I could, even though we are the same size). So it depends on what activities your son plans on doing with the fins.
