RENEE W i couldn't advise you what size you need to order for 8.5-9 but I am a size 9.5-10 and found the Cressi 5-5.5 to fit perfectly for me...
LOUIS B I wear a size 9 shoe, but use 12-13 fins because I use 5-mil booties. I wouldn't know what to suggest for bare feet.
RANDY P Charles- These fins run at least a size to 1 1/2 sizes small (men's US sizes). I wear a 10.5-11 men's shoe & ordered the Cressi Reaction Pro Fins in an 8-9 because I borrowed that size from a friend and loved them). They are a bit snug but work. I probably should have went with the 9-10 size. I don't know the size difference for girls/women but you should be able to figure it out from that. Remember these don't need booties & they are very comfortable, stretchy soft silicone-rubber and I can wear the 8-9's for a couple of hours and they don't hurt but again, probably could have went up a size and been fine.

SGT TRACY W I wear a size 9 ladies US size normal shoe.
For my cressi reaction pro fins I wear a size 5 - 5 1/2.
They fit perfectly and I love my fins. If your daughter is going to be diving in rough conditions though I would recommend that she also gets (I am not sure what they are called) plastic straps that go over the fin and ankle. Diving in rough seas I lost one of my fins last year, and since then I got those straps as well and they are awesome.

Shopper Does anybody own both the open heel and closed heel versions? Are they the same stiffness or are the closed heels more flexible?
NANCY C The closed heels are more flexible. Very comfy.
STACY M I would call the full foot fin a medium flex fin, but keep in mind that it also has a large blade and may be better suited for a larger strong swimmer. The big blade is great for a slower fuller kick and moves you through the water quickly for those fast descents when you snorkle in deep water.

Michael C You would need a pair of open heel fins not full foot! The size would depend on the pair of open heel fins you woul want.

IGNATI G Full foot fins are used in warm water, for Oregon waters you would need open heel fins and boots.
DANIEL C The first question is he a novice or expert, if the latter is the case then no I would not recommend them. Also these are full foot the water is cold enough in that area to require a boot which would make this type unusable. I would choose a longer pair of Cressi made for free diving. This would give him him better range and more power while diving. Say the Cressi Gara Professional LD Fins
PABLO M I believe free-diving fins should be longer. These are more for snorkeling.

JOHN T No. Free diver fins are much lonnger. These are very good fins though.
HENRIK N These fins are great for freediving, but typical freedive fins are longer. Cressi makes a couple of longer freedive fins available here (the Gara series). If you're traveling, however, these are a great choice because they offer a lot of power while still being short enough to fit inside a fairly normal size large suitcase or bag. Good luck!

JOHN L These fins run a little bit big. 39-40. These are truly a great fin. Comfortable foot pocket. Really good propulsion in the water. I always travel with my own fins.
