Max B Will this BC work well for Women? I want to get one fore my wife and she is 5.8" 145 lbs what size should I get her?
SUSAN H Yes. I am 5'8" and 139 lbs. and I just put on my son's BC in size Medium and it fits me fine. He used it last summer and he loved it. Great BC!
GARY K This is actually, Susan, Gary's wife. I'm the one with this BCD and I love it. I had an older version, so got a new one of the same type. I am very small and got the XXS size, so the fact that that was available was a plus.
One important thing is that this is not a true weight-integrated BCD. It has pockets on each side that can carry one weight each and that's all. You would have to unclip the pocket to dump the weight. I've always worn a weight belt and actully prefer it to integrated. But I do sometimes put a little less on the belt and add some to the pockets (usually only 2 each side) and divide up that way. On my XXS the pockets are pretty small for more weight than that, but on the larger sizes the situation could be more roomy.
CHAD T My husband and I both purchased this BC for travel. I am 5'9" and 150 lbs. I am a size 8 and chest size of 34 C (might be TMI...but it would make a difference if she has a larger chest). I have a size Small and have really been happy with it. We dove with it in Fiji for 4-5 dives a day and they held up well.
RICK B I purchased a medium for my son who is 5' 9" and weighs 150 lbs and it fit him perfectly. I also purchased a large for me and I am 5' 9" and weigh 180 and it fit me perfectly. These B C's have excellent adjustment straps.
ROB J I own two of the Aquapro BCD's. I have a small for my daughter who is 5'2, approx. 130 and a medium for myself and I'm 5'10, 170. I would think the medium would fit better.

DAVID F I got one for me I'm ale. I weigh 220 and 5'9" and the large fits me perfectly. I have not dove with it yet but it is very high quality similar to my scuba pro BC but lower in weight and price. You wife would probably fit a medium or small depending on how curvy she is. You may want to consider a BC designed just for women. Three years ago I got an Aris BC for my daughter who was 17 and 5'7" and well developed about 150 lbs, that has worked very well for her. I see at the LP website that there is a Genesis Sireine BC you may also want consider that one as well as it has some good reviews. You can also order both and send back the one your wife does not like. Good luck.
DAVID H My wife is 5'2" and 110 and has a xs. I am 155 and 5'8" and wear a medium. These are light and durable and we love them. I have had mine for 3 yrs, my wife for 2 years. No sign of wear. We do about 60 dives/year.
CHRIS P I got this BCD for my daughter. She is only 5'2" and weighed @130lb. I bought her a medium, but we returned it for a small. We've made 20+ dives and she loves it. I would recommend this BC. Have fun and be safe.
Shopper Would I be able to attach a second tank band higher up to the existing tank band?
I want to continue wearing a weight belt. My current bc's hard back pack is separate from the bc allowing it to rest on top of my weight belt killing my hips. Is this back pack moulded into the material of the bc?
EDWARD M There is a second slot just above the existing tank strap that could be used for a second tank strap. The two straps would be very close to each other, only about an inch apart.
Without seeing your BC on you, I'm not sure how the solid back portion is coming into contact with your weight belt. If you get the proper size, I would think it should not be an issue. LeisurePro has an excellent return policy if it doesn't work out.
Also, the weight pockets on this BC are excellent. If you had to drop your weights, you don't lose any part of the BC in the process, like a lot of other BCs. You could put the weight you have in the rear pockets of your belt into the BC's pockets, and keep the rest in your belt. That might be easier on your hips as well.
Derek O The backplate is bolted to the BCD and it is not possible to remove it. This is not a BP/W set up. I tried to thread some 2 inch webbing into the upper slots and the upper bolt blocks the webbing. That being said, you do not need an upper cam strap for this BCD, the tank is held in place with rubber holders on the back and on the cam strap. I have not had any issues with tank movement, even back flipping off of a boat with the setup as is.
JANALEE T The back is molded into the material of the BC. I do not see how you could add a second tank strap.
We are satisfied with this BC. We have used it with a weight belt and with integrated weights with no problem. we have it in a size small it that makes a difference.
RICK B My son and I both use this BC with weight belts and have not experienced any problems whatsoever. We are both 5' 9" and of average weight.
Ed T I have a Sherwood Shadow Octopus. Will it work with this BCD?
JEFF S Not sure that my answer will be all that helpful as I don't know the answer to your specific question. All I can say is that I have been very happy with this purchase. If I had it to buy over again I would purchase this exact BCD. Fits great, everything is easily accessible. I feel like I got a great BCD for the money.

BILL W an octupus is a n emergency back up regulator and will work w/ any b.c. this b.c. is a very well built pece of equipment It performs well under all conditions I purchased one and am extremly satisfied with it .Not to mention its a real bargain. Would recommend it to salt water or fresh water users. trouble free
FREEDERICK L The Cressi sub BCD is a standard low pressure hose hook up, so I would say yes unless Sherwood is making things different all of a sudden.
EDWARD M Since your octo is independent of your BCD, you should be fine. There are enough D-rings to clip onto so it stays handy and doesn't drag behind you in the water.
Ed T Thanks, but the Octo is integrated into the pressure line that connects to the BCD inflator. I'm really wondering about whetter the BCD inflator is standard length and has standard connector (at least standard 15 years ago when I bought the Octo).
EDWARD M The BCD inflator line is the same as all the others I see around, with the quick-release.
Looking at the Sherwood online, it looks to connect very close to the inflator, which would be ok for reaching your mouth when you need it. If you used it to share air, the other diver might have to be very close to you, unless you gave them your main reg while you breathed off your octo.
ROBERT B Should work just fine, I'm very pleased with this BC, I live on my sailboat, and bought this BC for a backup, or for when we have guests aboard. Seems like an excellent BC for the money. It's a nice performing BC, at an affordable price.
STUART K as long as your shadow has the standard LPI connection it should be fine
Shopper For weights, do you need those metal block weights or those bags? And for do i know which ones I need to buy for the best fit?
ROY N Both types of weights will work, however soft weights are more comfortable.
JEFF C You can use "lead" weights in the pockets but, I suggest that you buy "soft" weights for the sake of your BCD. the soft "bean-bag" style weights conform to the pockets better and wear less on the material. I myself just use a weight belt because I dive EVERY day for work. If you ever had to ditch your weights a weight belt is just one quick right hand release as opposed to un-clipping two seperate pockets.

FREEDERICK L This BCD will be able to use both hard weights or the soft bags, I would recommend the soft bags for all around comfort, but both work just the same.
(FYI. the pocket folds down to open there are no detachable pockets.)
DAVID D I have used both, and recommend the bags. The solid block weights fit, but depending on the sizes you have it might be a tight squeeze. The soft bag weights can change shape to fit the pocket better.

EDWARD M You can use either the block or bag weights, since the weights go into a pocket that folds up and locks into the buckle on the side. This is a very nice system, since there is no removable weight pouch to lose. If you ever had to ditch your weights, the only thing you'd be ditching is the weight itself, not the weight plus the pouch it goes in to.
HEDY W I am sure If you use bag weights (lead shot) more comfortable than block weights. However, i have only used block weights so far on 6 dives since i bough the vest. no problem no comfort issues with block weights. It is good fitting vest.

CHAD B I still use a weight belt with the metal block weights. Fir the BCD itself, if you needed to add weight then the bag weights are best.
JAMES H I use the soft bag weights in mine. The weight pockets are a bit on the small side. I can fit 5 pounders in each weight pocket and then I add additional weight to the zipper pockets when needed. Hard weights would work just fine in the weight pockets too.
Shopper how much weight does the integrated bcd hold?
COURTNEY F You can fit one weight in each of the integrated pockets but there's also zipper pockets that you can put more weights into.
WALLEY A I purchased this BCD for my 17 y/o son. We just took it out diving for the first time. We took it diving 6 times in Okinawa, Japan. The most weight that we put in it was a 4-lb and a 2-lb in each pocket, for a total of 12-lbs. I wound guess the pockets could hold (2) 5-lb soft weights in each pocket, for a total of 20-lbs though. I may add that my son is pretty particular, and he absolutely loves this BCD. Good luck finding a better BCD for the money.

CHARLES S It holds about 6 pounds each pocket on the xl. I use 14 and occasionally carry extra weight as a dm. so its not great but it works. Its not the best design i have lost one side before.

MARINA E I manage to carry 28lb for the cold water dives. I put weight in the zippered and buckled pockets.

As Scuba diving professional who dives EVERY day, I don't use the intergrated weight pouches. There are only two "holster" side pouches that can hold comfortably up to 6 lbs each. Any more than that would be not only cumbersome, but hard on the BCD. It's not the strongest BC either. For everyday use it can't handle the wear and tear. If it's used just recreationally (3-4 times a month,) it's not a bad product. The pocket liner abouve the zipper got torn 1 week into everyday use.

DEBRA N I don't know the max, but had no trouble with 12#, (4) 3# weights. Weights go in a pocket, like a shirt pocket and gets clipped and velcroed. My guess is probably (3) weights per pocket. It's a great BC.
NORBERT W A lot :) I remembered I did dry suit diving and I think I had smth over 30lbs in pockets. Only thing is wrong with this BCD is that the Cressi letters are coming off after a while. All else works perfect. I updated it also with Mares Air Control.
Nathaniel M Looking to either go with this BC or the Oceanic Probe LX BC. The Probe has a XXL. I'm 5'11, 260 lbs, size 50" suit jacket. Biggish ol' bubba. I'm guessing Cressi is going to be the lighter of the two? This more than $100 cheaper too. Don't know which to get! Thanks

SHIRLEY G Well, most of the BCDs I have seen are adjustable around the middle and this one has three straps: across the chest, the velcro waistband and then another snap-strap on top of the waistband (which is redundant, imho and I may cut that one off, eventually). All of these should be adjustable enough to fit you. I haven't really looked at the other one, but I think this BCD will probaby work for you. I am 5'6, 130 lb female and I got the XS size. It is a little loose, actually. So you will probably be ok. They have great return policies, too. Also, if you have an old one, you may consider using their trade-in deal to get more taken off the price. Happy Diving!
BRIAN P I love my cressi, but I will say that it seems to be sized a little small, when I rented a BCD from my dive shop I used a medium, and when I decided to buy one I went by the cressi size/weight chart and ordered a medium, it's on the border of being too small. But other than that, I absolutely love it!!!

DAVID D I am about 5ft 8 and weigh about 190, and use the same level of exposure gear. I first ordered this BCD in a medium, and it fit, but there wasn't much room to move and the straps were at their maximum extension. I sent it back and got a large, and it is much better. I recommend you go for a large. If you want more detailed sizing for this specific manufacturer, they have their own sizing chart on their website.
EDWARD M This BC should fit fine for you. I'm 5' 10" and average build (about 165), and it fits well on me with a 3mm wetsuit. It has plenty of room to open up when I'm in the quarry with a double 7mm on as well. I really like the way they designed the weight pockets (only the weight drops out, so you don't have to replace any parts on the BC), plus the big zip pockets are good for knives, flashlights, or even a rolled-up signal sausage.

MICHAEL F The bcd is comfortable for big guys, large side pockets and very durable material. As far as size goes. You should either go to the leisure pro directly or call a experience agent from there home store and give them the exact measurements of your body type. There very friendly and know how to fit the right BCD for the application involved. So give them a call on there 800 number and you will see for yourself how well mannered there staff members really are. So good luck with your many choices to pick from in there inventory.
ANDREAS M With a 3 mil wet suit I'd recommend Size L. Especially once you inflate, you don't want to feel too squeezed either. 6'2 here, tried the medium but was too short and too tight around chest.

ROBERT S I bought the Aquapro 5 for my daughter, a size small she is 5 6 and about 130. Also be aware that the internal weight pockets also run small. In hard weights I maximum weight for the vest is not more then ten pounds. You can get more in soft weights into the pockets. But a 6 lb hard weight is to big.

DONNA S Hi Steve: Sorry I don't know the weight of the unit, but I bet Cressi does. I can tell you that I really like this BCD. I first used it when renting gear and when I had the opportunity to purchase this is the one I chose. I did have experience with others when renting and decided this was the best fit and features for me. The weight isn't a problem for me and most of my dives have been shore dives where the weight would be a problem

ERIC J I havent weighed it, but the literature says it weighs 7 lbs. This is only about a half pound heavier than the travelite, which IMHO is too floppy. The extra support is worth the little extra weight.

Brett H This BC compares very favorably to the Tusa bc in every aspect except one, it will not hold as much weight as the Tusa, and it will not hold it as securely. If you are looking at holding more weight than say 10-12 lbs then the Tusa wins with it's better weight system.

PAUL C The side dumpable pockets are quite large. You can carry enough weight in them alone for any application needed. I have never needed the rear pockets for weight even with a 7mm wet suit.
ANDREI H I have 2 pounds in each side pocket but it should hold 8 no problem. Not sure about rear pockets they do look big enough to hold 10
COURTNEY F There are not pockets in the back for none dumpable weights. The side pockets will hold soft or hard weights of any weight if you have smaller weights you can fit 2 in each and then you do have the zipper pockets that you can put more weight in if needed.
JOE W I placed 22 lbs. of hard weights in the side pockets. It took a little work but it fit. Unless they have changed these, their is no rear pockets for weights.
ROBERT S I bought this BCD for my daughter, she carries one 4 lb weight in each pocket. Hard Weights. There are no rear nondumpable pockets. It looks as though it may fit a 6lb hard. But would not hold two 4lbs weights side by side. They state the vest can carry 20lbs but that may be only soft weights.
TIMOTHY E I have had tried 16 pounds total of soft weights 2- 5 pound and 2 - 3 pound in the side pockets and it fit nice but would fit 20 if needed but it would be tight soft weights work the best there is no rear pockets just the zippered pockets for your stuff and the weight pockets
GEORGE W I have only put about 4 pounds in each dumpable side pocket and have not used the rear pockets yet. The sides will hold more, put I am used to a weight belt, so I haven't varied from that set up yet.
Next time I go out, I will try out the rears and re-post an answer.

DAVID S You can easily put 8 pounds of solid weights in the dumpable pockets. I do not use the back pockets so I can't answer that question.
JOE D there are no rear pockets for weights, just the side pockets. I have kept 5 pounds in each pocket -- both can be dumped. You might be able to get a slightly bigger weight in there. In a full wetsuit I still need a weight belt but its a lot more comfortable and easy to trim using the vest pockets. Plenty of room below the vest to get a belt.
In addition to the weight pockets, there is a top zip pocket and rear facing open pocket on both sides for gear
Its a pretty nice vest for the money. I am large (6-3 250 lbs) and it is one of the few that fits me comfortably in an XL. Found it as a dive rental and said I had to have one of these. would be nicer if it had two tank straps....
MICHAEL M I dive with 5 lbs in each pocket. Solid lead weights are a little tight in the pockets. Lead shot works better. There are no weight pockets in the rear. I have had no real issues with the weight pocket arrangement or design.

MICHAEL M There is a bit of squeeze when the BCD is fully inflated, but that's normal. It does not seem overly bulky. This is a good entry level product for the average diver.

JOE J Honestly I am a new diver, I got certified with this BC and prety much just felt more comfortable using it. I personally do not think it is too bulky, again this is the ONLY BC I have used. I felt for the comfort, knowledge of the BC, price and for the diving I am going to do right now this was my BEST option. I do not use the weight pockets, use a weight belt. If this is your first BC and doing Rec dives I would recommend it. I also added a intergrated Octo to mine to elevate more hoses than needed. Overall would say 7-8/10.
PAUL C The amount of side inflation is just the right amount. It is not overly bulky at all. What you see in the picture is the BCD inflated to its maximum.
ARTHUR B I like the BCD a great deal. I was diving with an Mares LVC which has about 1200 dives and has required no maintenance until a couple months ago when I replaced the inflator hose. The LVC unfortunately is no longer made, a very minimalist, yet extremely sturdy BC. After a lot of research and trying other BC on, I chose the Cressi because it seemed like a good value. It is larger and longer than what I expected. I may have been better served to buy a medium. I am 6' tall, 182 pounds, 43" chest, 34" waist. As far as I can tell, no one makes BC that fit that size well anymore. I prefer a tight fitting BC and the Cressi is not that for me, but no other that I have tried is either. Compared to the Mares, it is bulky, but less bulky than any other BC I have tried. I have about 35 dives on the Cressi. I'd still be diving with the LVC would my better half and dive buddy let me! The Mares is 15 years old.
In short it is a great value, but a little big for me. I was unable to find a medium to try on and the salesman thought the large would be the right size for me; the medium too small. I would definitely recommend it.
NICOLAS M Its not A lot of bulk, but it those inflate a lot on the sides. But I recomend it, I have been working with one of these for a long time and there really confortable and reliable.

GABRIEL L I just got one last month and the inflator does look a bit different from the one on the Cressi site. I can't imagine that it would function any differently though. I went on my first dive with this BC two weeks ago in the Gulf of Mexico and it did great. I was very pleased. Can't beat this price!
JANALEE T Sorry, I do not have the answer to this question. But we did buy this one from Leisure Pro a few months ago. It is lightweight and easy to travel with. It works great in both cold water and tropical water.

The Aquapro 5 is an economically minded BCD, yet has all the features of higher priced buoyancy compensators. The durable 420 Denier Nylon and self draining mesh fabric construction will give years of dependable service. The Aquapro 5 has two unique "gravity" ditch-able weight pockets that are attached to the bellowed zippered accessory pockets with one on either side of the BCD. The weight pockets closures are quick-release impact and corrosion resistant Fastex buckles. Just squeeze the buckles and the weights are released.Each pocket can hold over 6 lbs (3 Kg). The back support is rigid for proper cylinder stability, but is fully padded for comfort. The harness assembly is an independent suspension system that allows the cylinder and the diver to keep proper stability and avoid cylinder shifting on the back, while allowing the BCD's air cell to fully inflate away from the diver not causing restriction or crushing effect as with non-ergonomic designs. Adjustable sternum straps along with both torso adjustment straps are equipped with quick-release buckles. The BCD has three over-pressure relief/dump valves with two located on the left and right shoulders and a third lower valve on the rear right of the air cell. All three can be manually dumped two with pull cords and the other with the power inflator mechanism. There are two stainless steel D-rings on the shoulder straps and two plastic D-rings on the pocket lobes with two additional snap hooks for attachment of instruments and accessories.
