Questions about this item:
Shopper I am considering this hood. Given the amount of stretch, if my head circumference is 21.5 inches and neck 12.5 inches, which size should I get, XS or S?
THOMAS J K Can't help with the sizing since I have a 24" head and 17" neck. I got an XL and it fits very well, good stretch, and I give it a good recommendation. I have used it in 48 degree water in Puget Sound in a 7 mm suit and in 75 degree water in the Flordia Keys in a 3 mm suit when I got cold. Very comfortable hood.
R ROBERTO A most of my diving is in the cold water of NorCal. I would get the xs as the 4 way stretch of the hood will comfortably accommodate your size and still stay snug without making you feel claustrophobic.
EDWARD B The Elastek suits are incredible stretchy. I do not know about the hood sizing. Bare is great company that I had no problem calling and asking questions. I recommend that you just call Bare to get the answer directly.
Side Note: Unless you are diving super cold water you may want to consider a 5MM thick hood. I dive my 7MM wetsuit in water down to mid 50's and prefer a 5mm hood. It stays plenty warm and I still have good mobility moving my head around... my 2 cents.

JEREMY T I'm not sure on the size you should get, but I can say that there has been zero shrinkage with mine. Still feels like it did when I first dived with it. Hope this helps a little bit.
Brad E Does this hood contain a purge valve at the top to release trapped air?

the hood does include a purge valve. I was skeptical about the performance (or failure) of the purge valve but it has worked perfectly in over 20 dives since I've purchased mine. More importantly for me, the hood is comfortable to put on and off and has enough elasticity for maximum range of motion underwater and not "choke" me if I have to suit up in the parking lot and walk to the dive site which often the case when diving in NorCal.
Bottom line for me is this. It keeps me warm, is comfortable to don and wear and I know it will last many years.
JOSEPH M No it doesn't. Also the stitching pulled apart the first time in use but I never got around to trying to get a refund.
