Questions about this item:
Shopper Ok, I received recommendations to buy a sm med large and x-large on a previous question. How should the bcd fit? Where does the comberbun end up on the body, etc...?
Joe S The cummerbund should end up as close to center over your belly button and the padded shoulder straps should be within two inches of the center of your chest on either side The closer the fit to these standards the more comfy it will be.
By the way, you shouldn't have any slack in the shoulder straps when cinched down.
MARC G This BC runs true to size maybe a little bit big. I wear XXL shirts and purchased an XL vest and it is good. I adjusted it to be smaller than it came out of the box. Very quality product and comfortable under water.
JENA S Cumberbun is just over the belly button I would say it fitsa tad smaller than men's tshirt. I wear large t-shirt and need medium BCD
JAMES H The cummerbund should end up between your usual pants waistband and your bellybutton, this for me is the best fit and has proven perfect.
Raymond S I am 5'-11" tall, 35" Waist, 42" Chest. What size would you recommend?
Joe S You can go to the Oceanic website for the sizing chart for specific measurements. But it sounds like you would be between a large and XL.
wetsuit or drysuit? makes a difference.
THARON E I would purchase a large BC.
NOEL R I purchased the medium size, and with the exception of the cumberbund being a little large, it fits me perfectly. I am 6'3",34" waist, 41" chest. So the medium should fit you perfectly.
WARREN N Raymond, I am 6'-1" tall, 38-40" waist, 46" chest. And weight from 210-220 lbs. My Large Excursion fits me well. You might want to consider a Med.
FYI Be certain that yours has the Updated QRL weight system Handles.
BLAKE B large these run small
JAMES B I am just a little larger than you. Because I anticpated some growth on my part I purchased an extra large. I believe I woyuld also have had a "snuggier" but adequate fir from a large. Depending on how you want the fit. I prefer the looser fit.
George S I would recommend a size large for you.
JOHN M I am pretty much the same size and XL is perfect
DOUGLAS H I think you might be at the upper end of Medium
Check Oceanic's site for more info
I have a Medium
5' 8"
32" w
40 chest
170
Excellent BCD BTW. Very happy with mine
Also Leisurepro offers their size guarantee so buy with confidence
BRANDON M I went with a medium and it seems to fit okay. I'm about 6', 32" waist. I do wonder if the small would have fit me better. I have to tighten everything down all the way for it to feel secure; room to grow I guess. You could always order a small to see how it fits and return it if it is too tight (as long as you don't take it into the water). I would have done that if I had the time.
MELVIN E B LARGE!!! Enjoy.............Mel B
DAVID S a XL
Its very adjustable.
This is by far the best bcd I have had yet. I had a night hawk, a seaquest balance. Its simalar to both of them but better the 2 pockets puts above them both. The rings and attachment points are awesome.
Carl K Can this BC be used for side mounts? I was told it would handle side mounts but i do not see anything baout 2 tanks
THARON E This is a great BC but I not sure if it will handle two side mounts. I would
check with an tech diver. Sorry I couldn't answer you question.
JAMES B Me neither, I guess if you had some design engineering skills, or perhaps a greater tinkering knowledge than I have. But the unit is good and confortable. I would not adapt it to something beyond a single tank. I just don't see it.
WILLIAM S No ...... Use a back plate and wing
Shopper How do you adjust the cummerbund?
KEITH N I purchased a large because I occasionally use a dry suit in Alaska. However, I do a great deal if diving in warm tropical climates also. So to adjust the cumberbund you have to do so at the back frame of the BCD. Of course with additional thermal protection of a dry suit I am able to adjust it out enough to accomidate keeping warm. It also adjusts enough to dive with no suit at all on me. I am about 5' 11" with a 36 inch waist and a muscular build so close to 200 pounds. Adjustment is very easy and uncomplicated, and I recommend this product.
JOHN R I had the same issue. If you foldaway the back plate cushion you will find where to adjust the cummerbund. There are also directions in Oceanic BC Manual, page 15. You can find the manual on their website under support.
ROBERT P Depends on what your goal is. To move it up or down, u can't but to make it smaller just pull on the lose ends by the buckle.
RONDEL W There isn't a way that I'm aware of. I haven't actually looked with the intention of adjusting but there is a buckle outside if the cumber bun that can be adjusted.
JAMES H The cummerbund automatically adjusts to a wide variety of sizes via it's elasticity; however, it is removable also so you can replace it with a different size of cummerbund if necessary.
KENNETH M The cummerbund has velcro so there is some adjustment that is made when folding the two sides of the cummerbund together. The the nylon straps are clipped in place. I have been very pleased with this BCD.
LLOYD P Just like most other side inflate BCD's using a combination of velcro strap and clip with adjustable straps.
Randy P Does the BC come with the weights or are they sold separately?
MICHAEL H Great BC, the weights are sold seperately
EDWARD A You have to buy them separately
JONATHAN D Weights are separate.
DENNIS D I got my Excursion 2 from Leisure Pro last year. Great BC, but it does not come with weights. For me, in a seven mil suit, I have 10# in the tank pockets, and 10# in the quick release pockets. There has been a recall on the quick release pockets. A new Excursion 2 may have the updated pockets already.
THOMAS T It comes with weight pouches that snap into BC but you have to buy the weight separately.
MARCIN L You still need to purchase the lead. It does not matter if they are hard or soft. I used both. I believe that the soft are gentler on the fabric.
MELVIN E B Greetings....................WEIGHTS are sold separately!!! Glad to be of help.
Mel B
STEPHEN W No this BCD does not come with weights, only the quick dump holders to put them in. Since I purchased this, I do not like the quick release weight design as well as Scubapro. But, this BC is good for the money. Cheers.
JAMIE B You have to purchase the weight separately but this is an awesome bcd. Recommend it highly.
MARC G Weights are sold seperately. You can use soft weights in the pockets or you may want to check out a t-weight.
JAMES B As far as I know, no BC has weights included. If you are diving with a dive shop arranged dive, weights are usually available.
KRISTIAN T no weights come with this BCD
ROLANDAS V No . Weights you need buy separate.
THOMAS R Teh BCD comes with the weigh pouches but not the weights. Their are too many options of wieghts and this this is something that you want to purchase seperately anyway as you would want to buy weights that will fit your weight requirements. There are also different types of weights, lead, coated lead, soft packs. I make my own using a sewing machine and lead shot used for hunting. I do not know of any BCD that comes with weights. I really have enjoyed this BCD and look forward to using it everytime I go diving. Very comfortable.
WARREN N The BC comes with weight POCKETS, not weights. And it has been my experience that the side pockets can way too easily become dislodged. Mine fell out 3 or 4 times until I "fastened them in. NOT recommended practice !
KEVIN R Weights are sold separately.
Shopper Hi, I am 1,63 and 72 kg. What size should I take to use with 7 mm wet suit?
WARREN N At 210 lbsAt 210 lbs and 6'1", I fit nicely into a large Excursion 2, with no wet suit, showing their size chart to be fairly accurate. Therefore, at only 148 (+/- 10 lb ) lbs, you are right on the border line of a small or medium. Since you are wearing a 7mm wetsuit, if I were you, I'd go for the Medium. Hope this helps.
RYAN S I believe a person 5' 3"180lbs who is somewhere in the middle of small and medium. I'm 5'10 195lbs and picked up a large only to find out I was right at the edge of being able to fit into it properly. So I got a medium and it's perfect. I have plenty of room to get bigger or skinnier. I'm trying to get to 180lbs myself at which point I feel confident that my BCD will fit just fine. Medium is what I suggest.
ROLANDAS V For you -small/medium .
I'm 1.84 - 91kg. I bought large. Happy with purchase.
JAMIE B I would say a medium would do. I also wear a 7mm suit and find that the recommended size is a great fit even with the thick neoprene.
ROBERT P I'm 84.1kg and I use a large with a dry suite. I don't know if this bc will work for u since the weight pockets only 66kg. U may need a xxl but check to see how
Much weight the vest pocket will hold in that size of an bc. Let me know if this helps
THOMAS R I believe your measurements are metric. So at 5' 3 and 158 lb. medium should be good
JAMES B If you mean 6'3" the XL is too large for your frame. Maybe Medium
THOMAS R on The information provided, I would think a medium would be good.
STEPHEN W This BC in XL has plenty of room for a bigger fellow like me. I am 6'2", 285 lbs, and have a 53" chest. Do your conversions and see if this works out. Cheers.
MICHAEL H I'm 5'10" 185 lbs. I use a size large Excursion BC over a 7mm wetsuit and
it fits great. just had to adjust the cummerbund for a snug fit. great BC!
Shopper Hi,
I am 1,63 m tall (or short....) and I weight 72 kg (158 lbs). Usually the dive shops give to me medium BCDs but I just would like to check what would be the right size for me assuming a 7mm wetsuit?
Thanks!
KEITH N I am 5 foot 11 inches and about 190lbs. I purchased the extra large for use primarily with a dry suit. However, I have used it with a 5mm wet suit and found the adjustable waistband very useful. This particular feature has enabled me to use my BC in any climate and simply adjust it as neccessary pending the climate and insulation required.
Ricardo L Can I use twin tanks with this? Are there any accessory for twin tank use? Thanks.
MELVIN E B Greetings Ricardo, SORRY, I checked all my available literature and could NOT find an answer as to accessory for TWIN TANKS.
My recommendation is to somehow communicate with OCEANIC and ask their TECHNICAL DEPT your question. GOOD LUCK..........Mel B
JONATHAN D Yes you can use twin tanks but not 80s and you have to buy an attachment for the BC for it to fit and honestly i haven't seen anybody use it. If you want doubles you might want to consider a BP/W setup.
MICHAEL H the BC fits comfortably and performs well but as is you cannot dive twin tanks. i did not see an attachment on the leisure pro web site to convert it as such but you may want to check out oceanics web site, sorry this isn't much help. good luck
JOHN M Yes it is capable, but you need the adapter. Has plenty of lift.
KENNETH W I can not say if this BC is capable of holding twin tanks, because I never use a twin set up. I can say this is a very comfortable BC and functions very well. For the price, you can't beat it!
