As a note, strobes usually offer slightly more power than constant on lights, but they don't help with focus and can't be used for video like this light can

brendan d how far will the light throw on land?
BORISLAV Y Keep in mind that this is a photo/vodeo light - meaning is has a wide angel. If you expect this light to make a spot on the sky it is not the light for you but I have footage at night and all obgects are in perfect light in 10-15 meter distance on the surfaceUNderwater from 2 meter distance some people can;t recognize if it is a night dive or a day dive :)

Remarkably, it is a self-contained, compact yet powerful all-purpose diving light best suited for video. It boasts a stunning 1300 lumens brightness from a single 30W LED chip, and offers 25%, 50%, and 100% output levels to allow the user to enjoy burn times lasting from 1.4 hours to 6.5 hours. The VL 1300 is made of corrosion resistant T6061 grade Anodized Aluminum Alloy; it contains a replaceable Ni-MH rechargeable battery. You can recharge the battery with ease by opening the front lens. The VL1300 Video Light has an 85.8° perfectly even Beam Angle underwater and a 77.3° angle on land. The light is fully self-contained with no cords or canister making it very compact and easy to set up. The single chip 1 x 30W LED Lamp has an estimated life of 50,000 hours reducing the need for replacement lamps. The 6500K white light reflects the true vibrant colors of the surrounding while diving. Snap on the yellow filter, you can achieve a warm color temperature at 3500K, with the red filter on, you can achieve better camera focusing or seeing sea life without scaring them away with a bright white light. The VL1300 Video Light comes with a smart charger, featuring a Hi-Lo switch, enabling you to quick-charge and standard-charge the battery. With the Smart Charger at 0.9 Amp position you can charge the battery in 210 minutes and in the 1.8 Amp position in 100 minutes. The light has a Magnetic Switch that provides ease when switching between three power output levels. The light is equipped with a thermal protection system, that prevents the light from overheating by cutting off the power in case of prolonged use on land or exposure to temperatures above 158°F (70°C). Once the light cools off, the power comes back on. The light measures 2" (52.5 mm) in diameter and 7" (178 mm) in length and weighs 23.39 oz (663 g) on land and is negatively buoyant 10.48 oz (297 g) underwater. The lights front glass is an Optical Convex Lens, the light is Depth Rated to 330' (100 meters) and comes equipped with both a 1" (2.5 cm) Ball Joint for attachment to a light arm and a Goodman Glove for hands free operation.
