Shopper Would this be a good choice for children ages, 5 to 9 years old?
KUMI K I would say yes for the 9 year old, probably no for the 5 year old. The mouthpiece might be too big. I would suggest purchasing just one and have your 5 year old try it out first.
VIOLETA L G No. The mouthpiece would be too big for a 5 year old.
Yes for a 9 year old.
LANA L It is a very good snorkel. It is also considered a "dry" snorkel which means that it has a valve that prevents water from entering it and choking an inexperienced user. I bought it for my husband and one for myself. I believe it would be fine for a 9 year old ... but not sure if it would work for a 5 year old as it might be too large to handle. We use the clip to attache it to our masks. The quality of the item is excellent .. just wash it out with fresh water when done and ours remain in great shape after several years. Overall a very good item.
WILLIAM B Yes. This is a good quality snorkel and should be size appropriate for your child. I would definitely recommend a dry snorkel, such as this one, for the kids as they are prone to lose awareness of their snorkel length and suck in water with a regular snorkel.
GARY W I cannot speak specifically to the 5 to 9 year old question as the Mini Snorkel I purchased was for my wife. She loves it! I also use the full size version of this snorkel. We are both divers and the Aeris Cuda Dry is the best snorkel we have ever had. I always hated having a snorkel attached to my mask while diving. They always seemed to be in the way. This snorkel is so lightweight and with the flexible tube it hangs straight down and is never in the way.
ANN H I bought the mini for myself since I have a small mouth and my regular Cuda makes my jaw ache. We spend a month snorkeling every year in Akumal MX and I use my snorkel about 5 hours a day. I love the mini.
I recommended the mini to a friend for his 5th grade daughter. She was pleased with it.
I hope this helps.
RICK P No. I actually don't like this for. The angle requires constant bite pressure. The mouth piece is a small size, so good for kids and may work better for their size head, but I also didn't like the floater piece above. Easily pops off and can be lost. snorkling
BARBARA B We bought this for our daughter who at the time 2009 was 10 years of age and it was perfect. In fact, she still uses it today. All our equipment that we have purchased from Leisure pro has lasted and in great shape, even years later.
