Questions about this item:
Shopper Why Did You Choose This?
MIKE P I had heard alot of good things about atomic aquatics and the mask looked like it had a larger viewing area than others.
SAL D Great low volume mask. Used on 300+ dives with no issues.
STEPHEN S Great reviews. Good visibility, easy to clear, very comfortable.
RICHARD W By far my favorite mask! I love ATOMIC masks. I had my prescription added after I bought it and it is very comfortable to wear.
DAVID T The black frame helps keep reflections and side clutter out. The single lens is super nice to look through. I'm going to buy my wife one for her birthday because she keeps threatening to steal mine.
TIMOTHY A The maker, Atomic is what first made me look at this mask. Atomic is one of the highest quality, diver comfort oriented companies in the business. Why do I continue to use it, after buying it 3 years ago? Comfort and field of vision.
RICHARD A Fits poorly and skirt is flimsy. Would not recommend it.
RONALD F Fantastic field of view, great fit
Brandon D I am a Dive master in Dominican republic and am about to start the instructor course. I am very interested in the mask and am very pleased wiht the qulity Atomic uses in the production of their products. My only question is what size to buy. I have like a Medium Cressi Panorama mask but it recently broke. I am 5 11'' and weigh around 175. not a big face but I am uncertain upon what size to buy ...... I am leaning towards the standard but could really use some advice. Any suggestions or tips?
DONALD D I found the normal size fits me pretty well and I'm 6'3", 135. the large size fit me, but the skirt would flip up on me on my temples letting water in. Got the regular size and the problem was fixed. hope this helps......DD
VIATCHESLAV K I'm about your complexion myself. Standard size should fit you just fine.
ROBERT P I am 6' 1" and 270 lbs and my face is about proportional to my body. The regular fit is about right for me. This is my second Atomic Frameless. You have an unobstructed view up down and side to side. Been diving for over 50 years and this is the best mask ever. They are a bit expensive but their regulators are also the best.
Robert P
JEFF G I'd say get the regular fit. I am 5'10" 170 lbs and the mask fit Me just fine. My face is proportional to my body. I was pleased with the mask overall. Good fit good view.
KIRBY M I am about your same size but large face I bought this as a second until I tried it, I made it my primary. I got lucky on fit. If there is any way you could find one to try first I would.
VINCENT K Probably ok. If you have a "standard" face, it should work! Seriously, try standard and if it doesn't work, you can return. Is medium smaller? Call and ask them.
RALPH B I would choose the standard.
Shopper Looks like this is one of the more expensive masks. Is it worth the extra money?
JAMES L i actually paid $99 for mine & i like it. i dont think your gonna find a better deal.go for it !
VITALIY G The choice of mask is strictly personal; so many people ? many opinions. Personally, ? yes, it worth the money.
RALPH B I have been happy with it, and it certainly doesn't leak!
EDWARD W I own 2 of these mask. The glass is super clear and offers wide field of view. The only issue I have is that my clear mask has started yellowing even though I have kept it properly stored. I would buy another one but it would be another black one.
TIMOTHY A Well John, I can only speak from my own personal experience with this mask. I've been an Open Water Scuba Instructor for 30 years now, and I wish they made masks that were this comfortable and wide field of vision when I started. I know you might be thinking that I am just trying to presuade you to spend more money, but I'm not. You can imagine just how many masks I have gone through in 30 years. This mask is the most reliable and comfortable mask that I have ever worn. You will not find a company that is more about providing a diver with the highest quality equipment than Atomic and you most likely very find a seller that has better prices and customer service than Leisure Pro, I have been a customer for over 30 years and ordered my first US Divers Pacifica mask from them when I lived in Hawaii back in 1982.
DYLAN S They also make two sizes, a normal and a narrow. The normal is a bit larger, but the narrow fits me fine and I have a smaller face. If you have a narrow face, make sure to get the right one.
DYLAN S Great mask, worth the money. Just get the black, not the clear.
RICHARD A NO, it is not! Atomic masks do not fit well as I have found out and as I've heard from other divers. Seems they are designed to fit mostly larger faces and the skirt is a bit skimpy under the nose. No problem with the quality of the materials but without a great fit nothing else much matters. I like Cressi and Scubapro masks for best fit.
JEFFREY D It sure is. I love mine. I have had it since 2007 when it first came out.
Bob F Is the strap in back rubber or Neoprene? I understand my wife wants neoprene due to her long hair getting tangled.. Recommendations? Thanks.
JEANNE K The strap on the back is rubber. The mask is an excellent choice so I would recommend the purchasing the mask and purchase a neoprene strap cover for it as I did. She will love it!
GREGROY F Atomic's website says that the mask is silicone rubber. My mask strap is made of the same material as the mask.
M D The strap is rubber, my recommendation is to also get a neoprene strap cover.
JOHN C The one I have is rubber. However, it is an excellent mask.
ROBERT M It's rubber, so occasionally it's an issue. Could throw a neoprene "slap strap" on it, though and it would be fine, then. The mask is low profile, clears easily, and otherwise just fine.
Bob F Thanks for your help - much appreciated.
GEOFFREY S I replaced the strap with a cloth strap - I also have long hair and that's the best way to go.
Bob F Thanks for your help - much appreciated.
JAMES G The strao it comes with is rubber but easily changed to neoprene. I dove this mask on a recent trip to Blue Hole Belize and can recommend it. The frameless view is awsome.
Bob F Thanks for your help - much appreciated.
JOHN J The strap, like the rest of this mask is a really nice solf rubber. I have been very impressed not just by the comfort, but the glass and optics as well.
Bob F Thanks for your help - much appreciated.
DARCY B doesn't matter if you dont buy from an authorized dealer why spend the money w/ no warranty?
Shopper can i put 2.00 lens in this mask?
BOB H I had bifocals added to my mask. Love them. I do not see why you would have a problem. I forgot who I used but they are out of San Diego.
MORRIS G The Atomic Frameless does not have that option available from the factory, although you could easily add the Dive Optx lenses ( available through Trident).
Atomic's Subframe mask, however, *is* available with a large range of diopters as a factory option.
The Subframe fits a bit differently than the Frameless, however.
If you are using 2.0's on land, you may only need 1.5 under water.
Hope that helps....
Melissa W Female with medium to small-framed face.
I am trying to decide between this Atomic Frameless mask, the
Oceanic Shadow Single Window Mask Mini, and the
Oceanic Ion 3X Mask with Neoprene Comfort Strap.
Can anyone give me their "2 cents" ???
STEFAN I It depends not only on your face but also what you're using the mask for. If it is for freediving (breath holding) then a small volume mask is a must-have as you have to use the air from your lungs to equalize the mask. If you SCUBA, you can use a larger volume mask as the air available for equalizing the mask shouldn't be a problem.
The small volume masks could be more difficult to fit as the skirt is narrower, and even if "it fits like a glove" in the store it might leak in the water.
Both the Atomic and Oceanic Frameless are great masks but you have to try them on, and both are a bit on the small volume side.
As for the Comfort Strap, that is one accessory that you need only if you don't use a hood and have long hair. Quite popular with the tourist in the Caribbean, but a no-go for free-divers.
RANDY A I ordered the medium size in the Atomic Framless and it was too small. I had read reviews and thought the medium would fit my narrow face. I am 5'11" and 155 lb.If you order, see how close it is to your eyes,or order both and just send one back. I re ordered the regular size. It fits very nicely and used it in Bonaire 25 dives. Love the vis.! It tends to fog more than some masks because it picks up heat from your face. I used Sea Drops Gold gel and let it dry and that worked great. I have not tried the other masks you ask about. Good Luck, Randy.
PAUL S I've had the Atomic Frameless mask for 3 years now and just love it - I don't think I will ever dive any other mask. It is comfortable, low volume, and has a great field of view. I cannot compare t the Oceanic masks that you mention since I have not tried them.
JAMES S Hey, Melissa. I've never owned the Oceanic Shadow Single Window Mask Mini, but I have owned an Oceanic Ion 3x. I liked the Ion.
I also have owned the Atomic Frameless (clear) for about 3 years now. Of all the masks I've owned or used over the past 30 years or so, the Atomic Frameless is by far the best. By far.
It fits perfectly, it doesn't fog up (even properly prepared/cleaned ones do that, you know), and it has terrific visibility. It's reliable, the glass is clear, and the silicon material is is high quality. I recommend the Atomic Frameless mask highly.
Shopper I weight 120 pounds. What sized of Atomic mask fit for me?
KAREN L This is an awesome mask. Both me and my dive buddy have one and love them. I am a larger person and wear the standard fit. My dive buddy is much leaner (140lbs) and wears the smaller version (I think it's called mid fit). You'll love this mask so much you'll never go back to anything else!
SARAH G It doesn't really matter how much you weigh, but what your face shape is. If you have a narrow face around your eyes, you will want a smaller one.
Carlos P I've just got the regular one but seems a bit small, is the size written anywhere in the mask? how to tell if its medium or regular.
DOUG V The mask had the size written on the right side skirt under the buckle.
NICK D Hi, Sorry for this late answer to your question. We have been away and just returned Saturday.
After inspecting my wife's mask I did not find any reference to the size either on the frame or the glass itself.
Nick
David R On the case, the model number for the regular/larger size woudl be 04053000 or 04052000 and the medium/smaller size 04053500 but the last 3 numbers are 500 on the smaller size and 000 on the larger size
DON M Carlos,
The size is not on the mask anywhere that I can find. You know how to check the mask right? Press it up to your face and inhale slightly thru your nose to create a slight negative pressure in the mask . Bend forward until you're facing down and hold that. If it doesn't fall off it's probably ok.
ALAN P Carlos,
Sorry. I have no idea. I haven't noticed any size denotation on it. I moved on to a TUSA M-14 - wider field of vision.
Alan
DONALD T I was told by leisure pro to look at your mask storage box the p/n should have on it's last digits 53000 for regular mask
ANDREW P I have one that is about two years old. It has no size marks etc.. It does seem rather small compared to others that I own. My wife is now using it and likes it. She is a petite woman so I suspect that the ones like mine work better with smaller people (smaller faces?)
Shopper What's the difference in a regular size vs medium? I have a medium size face and head not small or large and ordered medium.
RANDY A I ordered the medium because I have a narrow face. I used the mask for a week in Bonaire. I felt it was too small and close to my eyes. I ordered and recieved the standard mask to use this next trip to Cozumel. It seems a little large. I may just be an "in between" face. We will see. I love the design of this mask and hope the standard fits.
GUY F Regular is larger. Medium is for a more narrow face.
JIM A I am currently using an Atomic Subframe mask and really like it, however, when I order my next Atomic Subframe mask, I will order the larger mask. I am not sure about the sizing regular, medium or large, but my mask feels a bit small, and I probably have a medium face. I will definately order the larger size between regular and medium. Good luck with your choice.
Shopper Hi,
Any advice on how to prep this mask? Would you recommend a classic scrub with toothpaste or flaming?
Thanks
VIATCHESLAV K I used toothpaste, it worked just fine for me.
JEFF A toothpaste did the job for me. repeat a few times
PAUL S I'm not sure about the "flaming" approach, but I have found that the toothpaste scrub works just fine on this and every mask I've ever used. In addition, I find that this mask just seems to fog a lot less than most of the other masks that I've used for some reason. Yet another reason to love this mask.
JAMES S I used toothpaste. Worked great. This is the best mask I've ever owned, and I've owned many. Enjoy!
DONALD H I find a classic scrub with toothpaste works quite well with this mask, both when it's new and periodically thereafter.
Brickleyb B I am going to be using my mask for free diving, snorkeling and some scuba. I am looking for a low bulk mask that will allow me to move fast without drag while still giving a great field of vision. I had a freediving friend tell me that he loves his Cressi Occio plus but I don't know about having two separate eye panes. Can anyone compare this Atomic mask's single pane to a cressi with two separate panes?
Brickleyb B Wow, Thank you for the wealth of commentary. I am very excited to try out my new mask at St. John this weekend.
TIMOTHY A Hi
I've been diving since 1981 and a PADI instructor since 1983. I've tried just about every type or style of mask that has come along over the years. I had purchased the "Big Eyes" mask a few years ago, and while it was a great improvement, I couldn't over-come the split lens. When I tried the Atomic Frameless, I found that it had all of the added light and field of vision that the "Big Eyes" had but without the split lens. I'm not a doctor, but I feel the reason may be due to me having an astigmatizm in my right eye but not my left. But that's just a guess.
Tim
JOHN F i like single pane masks a lot better than separate pane masks. with single pane masks in general i've had a lot less problem with fogging. the center field of vision also has less of the frame in the way with single pane. this Atomic mask is also very comfortable. i would even say it's the best mask i've ever owned. i keep a new spare one on hand so i won't have to use another type in case the Atomic is lost.
CHARLES C I have been using this mask for frredive spearfishing and scuba diving for the past 4 years. I bought a second one when the first wont had a tank placed on it. It is by far the best mask I have owned. It is low volume and close to your eyes with great field of vision. I do not like masks with two separate eye pains at all.
I have 25 years of diving experience and I used to work in the scuba shop industry so I have tried lots of masks.
Charlie
PAUL S I don't have specific experience with the Cressi mask, but I used to dive with a 2-pane mask, but never will again after purchasing the Atomics Aquatics frameless mask 2 years ago. This low volume mask packs small, minimizes drag, and has a great field of view. I just love it. One of the best pieces of dive gear I own.
VINCENT K I have used this mask and also a new Cressi Big Eyes. The single pane glass is maybe a bit more wide-open than the split-pane Cressi, but frankly, I don't see a huge difference. I do like the black skirt vs. the crystal, though, as the black seems to seal better with either mask. I like the Cressi a lot but I have to say the quality "feel" of the Atomic is much better than the Cressi. The new Cressi just feels a bit flimsy. Works fine, but just doesn't feel as substantial. Depends a bit on the size of your face, too. If medium to large, either of these masks are fine. If small, the Atomic and probably the Cressi might feel a bit on the wide side. Jack at www.conchdiver.com
Shopper Does it come with a protective case or do I need to buy one separately?
LeisurePro S Yes, this will come with a case.
Shopper Is there a large size, besides the two sizes listed?
LeisurePro S No, this mask is only available in two sizes. The "standard", however, is larger than the medium.
Shopper I am a 6'1" man, but my wife joking calls me a pin head sometimes. How do I know if I have a small face? My hat size it 23". Would I be better to order both standard and medium and return the one that does not fit as well?
LeisurePro S It IS hard to determine sizes when buying a mask online. If you feel you have a smaller sized face you can go with the medium size (which is smaller than the standard). If you don't have a particularly small framed face or if you are unsure, the standard is probably your better bet. However, people often purchase multiple sizes to try and then return the ones that don't work so if you would like to do that, you are quite welcome :)
Shopper I am confused over the sizes of the Atomic Aquatics mask. Which mask is smaller, the standard or the med. fit? I have never had an issue with the fit of a mask and I'm not sure which one to purchase. Thanks. Ed Williams
LeisurePro S The medium fit mask is designed for those with smaller faces so has a smaller, differently shaped skirt but is otherwise the same as the standard, with the same frame and lens area.
Shopper i'd like to buy more than one atomic frameless marks. maybe 10 but I have to know exacly wat's the difference between the medium size and the standard size.
LeisurePro S The medium fit mask is designed for those with smaller faces so has a smaller, differently shaped skirt but is otherwise the same as the standard, with the same frame and lens area.
Shopper How does one know if their face is better suited to the standard or medium without trying it on? Is there some kind of sizing guide?
LeisurePro S Trying the mask ion s the only real way to figure it out. Generally a smaller frame individual will use the smaller of the two skirts.
Shopper I have tried on the Atomic Sub-frame mask and it fits great, but have not tried on the Frameless. Do they fit the same? Is the only difference the lens style? Thank you.
LeisurePro S They do not fit the same, the Subframe will fit more faces. The Frameless has a lower volume and slightly larger field of view, If you have a fairly standard face it should easily fit you.
Shopper Does this mask come with a mask case?
Shopper the Atomic Aquatics Frameless Mask is standard larger then medium.
LeisurePro S yes the standard is larger then the medium.
Shopper I have a large nose. Will I be OK with the standard fit?
LeisurePro S The standard has the same fit as most other masks in the marketfit like most on
Shopper Buying a mask for my wife...want to know which is smaller, the Medium or Standard Fit mask.
LeisurePro S Medium skirt is smaller
Shopper I wear bifocals. Am I able to get some sort of gage reader type lens or insert with this mask?

Atomic Aquatics Venom Mask is a blending of Atomics SubFrame and Frameless Masks. It has a reinforcing internal frame that's molded directly beneath the surface of the silicone rubber skirt, like on the Subframe, yet it offers the relatively low profile of the Frameless. A single window like the Atomic Frameless, but it has a high bridge and tear-drop shape similar to the SubFrame's dual-window design. Its easy-to-use squeeze-to-adjust buckles are soft-mounted to the mask skirt, which allows flexibility in strap positioning, plus they can be folded flat for packing... more
