Questions about this item:
Shopper I'm trying to decide what to get. Why did you pick this one?
CHRISTOPHER W Integrated compass, multigas, large display, the list goes on and on. I have done multilevel deco diving with this computer and it could not be easier. Everyone says I have a laptop on my wrist but its very easy to use, feature packed, and can be used with thick gloves on.
MATTHEW S The Uwatec brand is an obvious reason. You really can't go wrong! This wrist unit has so many features and extremely easy to use.
I wanted a hoseless unit with a large display. I did look at and actually purchased the Suunto D9. I returned it because the display was small. Overall, I made the right choice and if you purchase the Galileo you will to
EDGAR C Had previously owned a uwatec and loved it. I like the multi gas, monitor my partner gas (dive w kids) and the hr monitor integration.
THOMAS S I have owned several SCUBA Pro computers in the past. Had good luck with. I like that this has user replaceable batteries. The newer software has more data fields, could still use a little better GUI, but its a big step up from the old software for the PC. Display is big and I like to wear mine on my arm just below the elbow. When lobstering I can see it and not get it scratched up like a wrist unit. The only issue has been the rubber strap, as the old unit had elastic band material than gripped better and never moved. They had a bunch of defective rubber straps that broke and I almost lost the unit. You can set almost everything to the way you like it. If you like a bigger computer it's a nice unit.
Shopper how do you turn off gauge mode on the Galileo Sol?
Monica s Press MENU to view the list of menus. To enter any menu, scroll up or down the list via the arrow buttons until the highlighted bar covers your menu of interest, then press ENTR to confirm your
choice of Gauge mode.
Gauge mode (default: OFF) Upon entering this menu, the words ON or OFF will be highlighted on the screen, indicating whether the gauge mode is active (ON) or inactive (OFF). If the gauge
mode is inactive, Galileo will function as a dive computer. If the gauge mode is active, Galileo does not carry out any decompression calculation and does not provide any warnings or alarms .

Shopper How heart rate monitoring works if you were it over a thick (7 mm) dive suite?
Monica s The computer comes with the T31 Transmitter which you strap on around your chest, under your suit.

Whats in the box:Computer, Heart Rate Monitor, Online Class and Owner's Manual Galileo was a great scientist who was ahead of his time in many schools of thought; the people at UWATEC have paid him great homage by naming their cutting edge dive computer, the Galileo Sol, after him. The Galileo Sol dive computer boasts of great technical advances that would make Galileo proud and maybe a bit jealous. It is no secret that each dive is different and taxes the diver slightly differently. The Galileo Sol is the only dive computer with the ability to track the diver's heart rate and calculate how it will affect the dive namely air consumption and decompression requirements. The Galileo Sol also offers an integrated digital compass that is completely unaffected by tilt. Now you can navigate the depths of the sea without worrying if your headings are accurate. The large display lends an additional hand to keeping you on track, in terms of direction, air consumption, and general dive data. With the optional SKU: UTCSMID SmartTRAK Infrared Devise after your dive, you can download the Galileo Sol's dive data directly to your PC. The easy-to-read charts and graphs allow you to accurately review and evaluate your dives. The Galileo Sol stores the 100 most recent hours of dive data for you; no need to wonder what happened when with the Galileo Sol as your dive computer. One pitfall of many dive computers is they become outdated very quickly. With the Galileo Sol, you don't have to worry about that inconvenience; simply use the optional infrared interface and upload the latest and greatest features and functions from the UWATEC website. What could be easier? The computer can also be a hose-less gas integrated computer with the addition of the SKU: UTCT Smart Tec/Z Transmitter. The Galileo Sol Dive Computer is a wrist mount computer that is water activated so if you forget to turn it on manual it will still calculate all aspects of your dive profile once you hit the water. Computer is altitude adjustable to 13,300' (4,000 meters) with full decompression and without decompression (gauge mode) at any altitude. Computer is powered by a user replaceable CR12600SE (SKU: AQUBY126) lithium 3 volt battery. The Galileo Sol also gives you wait to fly information, has a stop watch function, depth alarm, battery alarm, and a maximum depth rating for decompression calculations of 394' (120 meters). In gauge mode the Galileo Sol maximum depth readout is 1,084' (330.5 meters). Computer is equipped with back lighting for low light or night diving conditions. Computer is also equipped with a digital compass that has a resolution of 1 degree and a tilt angle of 80 degrees. Computer is also a timekeeper with a quartz clock that gives time, date, and dive time display up to 999 minutes. Other features include current depth, maximum depth, and four modes of air, nitrox, gauge and free dive. See what you want, when you want, with Galileo's extra large dot-matrix, available in 3 pre-configured screen display mode options: The LIGHT display shows dive time, depth, tank pressure and no-stop information with digits that could not be any bigger. The FULL display maximizes the information shown at once: depth, dive time, deco information, tank pressure, RBT, time of day, stopwatch, active MB (micro-bubble suppression) level, temperature, heart rate, maximum depth, average depth. The CLASSIC display strikes the perfect balance between "clean & clear" and "super complete". Depth, dive time, deco information, tank pressure, RBT and temperature are always displayed. Also included with the computer is Galileo's heart rate monitor, jointly developed with Polar (world leader in the field of heart rate monitors), not only measures and records the heartbeat during the dive but allows the dive computer to factor the intensity of the exercise into the decompression calculation, as it is reported by the diver's physiology. The HRM is also ideal for Apnea divers, measuring heart rate and sounding an alarm if the heart rate drops below the set level.Computer comes with a comprehensive Owner's Manual and a 24 month limited warranty.
